Do you want me to go on? I've got tons of quotes and comments to remind you with.
We've all read all of that. You and your buddy George Truett can keep posting it if you think it is a substitute for actual facts.Thee University said:

He should not have even been paid a Gut Pack from Vitek's!!!!!Timbear said:
And, in spite of all the quotes Thee says he has, the incestuous BOR paid Art $15M. Why give that $ to a man if he could be fired for cause and not be paid anything? Because, there was no cause.
Not quoted correctly. Yes, Briles broke down when questioned but not in front of the Board. You would too if everything you had built since arriving was being taken away from you.Thee University said:
Baylor regents said that when Mr. Briles was asked what he would have done differently, he broke down and wept. Many board members began to cry as well.
"He couldn't speak he was so upset, and all of us were," Mr. Gray said. "Art said, 'I delegated down, and I know I shouldn't have. And I had a system where I was the last to know, and I should have been the first to know.'"
Mr. Cannon said Mr. Briles quoted Scripture and expressed his regrets over the painful situation Baylor was in, but didn't admit to wrongdoing.
Now that you phrase it that way, he's perfectly qualified to be a Regent. And if he gives more than $567.35, he will have outdonated about half the current Board.Thee University said:

I'm in a 100% agreement with you on this.Thee University said:
The Art/Baylor fiasco was a breakdown on all fronts. I still contend that had Ian McCaw done his job instead of being scared & intimidated, none of this would have happened.
You would fire Scott or Kim???TellMeYouLoveMe said:I'm in a 100% agreement with you on this.Thee University said:

Explain to why you would fire them?

Those Board members and their tears to God were reacting to the Pepper Hamilton "verbal report" that showed only 18 or so athletes were charged and hundreds of students the Board wanted to cover up.
Has Baylor run out of insurance money? If so maybe the truth will eventually come.
In spite of Ian and others. Yes. Just think where we could have gone with backbone and leadership!Timbear said:

I thought it was always that way. Granted, I have not always followed it.57Bear said:You forgot to thank President Herb Reynolds for changing the charter and making the BOR, for the most part, self selecting and self perpetuating with no external control.Stranger said:

If you could see where Art was headed, why didn,t you offer him some advice?
I first met Art in December of 1976. I was being recruited by U of H and he was assigned to me as my host for that weekend. It was my first on campus visit. All of my other visits came after Christmas break. I was only around him for a few hours.VN 68 said:

You make it sound like he settled for nominal damages. That isnt my understanding. Although I dont know the amount.
Now, he probably had no idea his career was done when he took the buyout, but anybody with a grasp of reality would have told him that.

Yep, and with compounding, controlled spending, that $17 million hits the $30 million mark if he has some time on his hands and doesn't need the principal right away.curtpenn said:George Truett said:Is any amount worth your reputation?PartyBear said:

You make questionable assumptions. I'm about Art's age. A multi-million dollar payday that secured my and my family's financial future sounds pretty good to me. Especially considering that the damage to his reputation was already done and presumably he understood his coaching career was effectively over regardless of guilt or innocence, I think it makes perfect sense to take the money. Just common sense.

It's rare that I can read six pages on this board, on any football-related subject, and not be moved to express an opinion. As much as I've read on this subject matter for four years, I still don't know enough to have an opinion on the specific players and/or institutional failures involved, outside of my disdain for how Title IX was interpreted and enforced during the time of the controversy. With over 40 years in the military and law enforcement, I've learned that trifling with due process only results in monumental crap shows and justice served only by accident.
