Asst AD for Football operations is leaving the program now as well, at just under one year in the job. This is Aranda's (literal) right hand man with running everything about the program's operations.....other than coaching players and calling plays. And it is important to make sure you understand that this guy has had a long term professional relationship with Aranda. A good one. They are friends. So, this move is foretelling.....just letting you know.

Stay tuned for an interesting Year 2 of Aranda's struggle to rise into a head coach. And Mack Rhoades continued below average performance as a D-I P5 AD.

All I want to know is . . . has Aranda by been talking to any NFL teams and has Rhoades given him a raise or extended his contract yet? After all, he did win one more game than little Matty did his first season.

yes that was there for a year or so, a year or two at LSU. Thomas seems like a good guy my assumption is he wants to be an AD somewhere maybe he's getting his shot.

So the guy is leaving on his own? Hopefully everything is fine. These departures seem to have occurred right after our hearing.

It concerns many of us that hear that changes being made (and there have been 5 or 6) are not being made by Aranda, but above his head. That means Aranda will not be here long.

That Is another thing I wondered about, CT. These changes are starting to seem like they aren't Aranda's moves. Which if that is the case we are headed for disaster. Steele was micromanaged keep in mind for those wondering how that ends up going.

I'm under the impression Fedora and Munoz were let go by Aranda have you heard different? With Thomas, I think he's obviously bright and good in his field but jumped around a lot, so to me he's looking for the next best thing, maybe as an AD somewhere.

Think a strong OC and OL hire will calm some of this. Wonder if Wetzel is ready for the ADFO position yet being associate AD.

Did the OL coach leave?

Wickline is currently still on staff. That can change with the OC and who he brings in (and if OC is an OL coach).

No reason to play around. Rhoades just needs to cut his losses and move on. He jumped out and hired a hot name at the moment, who unfortunately was nowhere ready for his first head coaching assignment. The result was a somewhat predictable debacle. Surely he didn't negotiate a large buyout requirement for a guy who had never been a head coach in his life. Just pay the guy out and move on.

I don't get this take- everyone wanted Fedora gone, internally people said Munoz was having issues. So they get rid of them and now it's why did they do this? An AD that's been here basically a year left ok. As for the SC coach that is a little tricky- that guy seemed to be good. But the SC coach sets the HCs culture I think more so than pretty much any other coach. It's why Kaz was so important, not just in his job but players would tell you he set a culture and a mentality along with CAB. Aranda is finding his.

You do that and you severely limited your amount of potential replacements. That'll be looked upon very badly in the coaching world, especially as CT alluded to with a completely untraditional year with no spring ball and the fubar ball we got to play.

No smart first time HC is going to act this way either in this COVID year. It is questionable at this point that Aranda is acting this way. But those of you giddy and think a house cleaning 11 months in is a sign of greatness, it really is the sign of the opposite no matter who is making these decisions.

But, a 2nd year do over could be great with the right OC, and new staff. Aranda's a good man who has been on winning staffs. Experience is a great teacher.

Aranda, even after a COVID year, is not even close to those awful coaches of Beall and Steele.

Aranda won't -- and shouldn't -- be fired after one year. It's stupid to even talk about. He'll be here three years minimum. We need to hope he learned a lot in this first year and makes the appropriate changes going forward.

I feel confident that our defense will be really good really soon. Figure out the offense and hammer out the program identity that we were lacking this first season.

With a first-time head coach, there was always going to be a learning curve. COVID only exacerbated that. We're going to have to be patient and let this play out.

At this point right now, he isn't as good as Reedy, who was about a .500 HC in an era Baylor wouldn't commit financially to the program.

I love hearing that "Covid Year" excuse coming up over and over on this board. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Notre Dame don't seem too concerned about Covid!
