Gameday Thread: Baylor (4-1) returns home to face West Virginia (2-3)

Baylor (4-1) looks to rebound after its first loss of the 2021 football season when it faces West Virginia (2-3) on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT inside McLane Stadium.

Baylor — QB Gerry Bohanon

With the uptick in competition, Bohanon has shown some growing pains. West Virginia will bring the heat on defense this weekend, and the margin for error will be slim. Bohanon needs to let 'er rip on Saturday while having his head on a swivel. Establishing the passing game early and often is critical to avoiding a repeat of last week's first half.

West Virginia — Quarterback Jarret Doege 

Throughout his career, Doege has been prone to inconsistency and turnovers, similar to Spencer Sanders. Take last Saturday, for example. His first drive interception and third drive sack-fumble directly led to Tech's early 14-0 lead. Then, in the second half, the Texas native led four scoring drives to tie the game at 20 before falling to a late field goal. Backup Garrett Greene will be involved too, but a lot will ride on which version of Doege shows up against the Bears defense.

Much-improved execution by offense and defense. Coach Aranda talks about playing a "clean" game. Need to clean up the punt team. Big time penalties could have been the difference with a better opponent. Those penalties not only gave WVU scoring opportunities, but took time away from our back ups to get more game experience.

The best way to gauge a team's discipline is to get a really big lead and carry it into the 4th quarter. There's still a lot of room for improvement there. That said, this game turned out more positively than most of us fans thought it would.

My english better. My daughter (figlia in italia) good teacher. I understand what you say now except for tenses. So now I have English to add to Spanish, French and German and some Portuguese. I speak some Swahili too as been on missionary trips to Kenya years ago. I guess good win for Baylor. I don't really know much but 45-20 is more than double and in European soccer 3-1 is good win.
