No. 13 Baylor (7-2) will host No. 8 Oklahoma (9-0) at McLane Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Quote of the week...

Dave Aranda: “The (Oklahoma) quarterback has injected their offense with some firepower. They have always done a good job with their run game. It is always attached to our RPO's. We struggled with our RPO's just this past week. Caleb's ability to hit receivers in stride with tight coverage, I think stands out, I think the skill on the perimeter stands out. Oklahoma does a nice job of bait and switch. Of really setting up a run, getting the look they want, and then taking advantage of it with a designed RPO. They've been able to jump ahead on folks through that progression, and it's going to be for us to disrupt it.”

Craig Smoak’s Players to Watch

Oklahoma — Quaterback Caleb Williams

The former 5-star and #2 QB recruit in the country last season, is already living up to his billing as the Sooners' #1 QB for the foreseeable future. Since bursting onto the scene against Texas and dethroning Spencer Rattler in the process, Williams has become a true dual-threat superstar in the making. His affinity for timely, impactful rushing scores has prevented OU from suffering losses to Texas and Kansas alone. Not to mention his Mahomes/Manziel-ish ability to make something out of nothing. He's not really Superman, but that is his actual nickname.

Baylor — Entire Defense

There's a sizable list of reasons why the Bears struggled so mightily last week against TCU, but now an even more significant challenge is in store with Lincoln Riley's offense. Pass rush, job assignment, communication, focus. Everything will matter and needs to improve for this defense to help play spoiler this weekend. But, especially in light of last week, I'd expect the Bears' defense to be ready for the challenge.

Wasting possessions. **** that noise.

We don't have 1 because they don't have a QB they trust and rightfully so he's a TO machine

Did we seriously not want to even try to put put points in the board before half time - especially given we're getting the ball first in the second half??

I think we see Rattler in the second half and they throw, throw throw.

They're holding like crazy in the o-line. If that doesn't get called in the second half, it could be tough.

People are apparently confused:

This isn't the score in 57 second Briles offense.

This is the poke and plod and squirm for 80 yards and knock 10 minutes off the clock offense.

They probably would have put us in the playoffs in 2014 with this halftime score and those stats.

Still zero excuses to not try to push it down the field. Just shows they don't trust him.

We're conditioned now that not turning it over in that situation is a win for the team this year

We survived.

No confusion here DD you absolutely try to at least get into fg range. We had all the momentum in the world.

Bart Riles for OC. Go get us so more track stars and a killer qb. Let them get their rhythm synced up and start putting points back on the board. Damn i miss those offensive bombs and short darts like before.

Im sure ou misses butfart mayfield et al as well...

Why must only one side of the ball be potent under any regime?

We have not played well on offense, but defense and OU mistakes have given us a fresh second half start, plus we receive. I'm really hoping we can figure out how to mix things up on offense.

It really isn't, but some of our fans have been brain-damaged to think anything that isn't 50-points a game, no defense Briles ball may as well be the wishbone.

Yes, a frustrating half of missed opportunities and prejudicial calls from the zebras. But I'm still impressed with our defense keeping this game even. (Yes, they missed FG's but our defense still forced OU to kick them.)

30 min game now and I like our chances to run it down their throats in the 4th quarter.

I mean our production and scheme are significantly closer to the latter...

It's possible to be somewhere in between.

EDIT: The pre-snap motion and lateral handoffs are flexible staples. Our pass game would be more versatile with a more accurate QB but we are who we have to be with our current players and it's a very 2nd round, Bill Snyder KSU team with less QB running.

The 10 minute TOP game only works when you score relatively consistently, hell even half the time would be great.

At least its not a 2 or 3 possession game in their favor, bit it would be in our favor if we had any briles qbs. Just sayin

OU is 5th in the country in scoring offense at 43 points per game. Incredible first half by our D.

So far if baylor loses, Oklahoma didn't win it we lost it.

Game was so close to getting completely out of hand and we should be up 2 scores

Not quite. Stoops beat us 44-24 in Waco in 2015 when they knocked out Stidham.

Yes, and it took almost 14 plays per game more to get that YPG than anyone other than Penn St and Ohio St.

Yep. Even when we can strike quick we been struggling to hit wide open receivers.

Let's play mistake free and win a 30 minute game.

Turns the whole season around and Grimes becomes a wizard again

DC has stepped up.

Whatcha got OC???

There are no more true Snyder-cats...just teams that play like one.
