The Aggies comeback vs Northern Iowa in the tournament may have been better..12 points with 35 seconds left.

Was that one funded by a shoe company also? I guess it would have been Converse Chuck Taylor's then?

Great and needed win! I hope this won't be a one game fluke for Bonner.
This performance should give Dale some confidence. And if Keyonte's out for another game or two, we'll need him to give us some minutes.

Notwithstanding the fact that the first NCAA national championship was awarded in 1936 or 1937. Very Aggyish.

Amazing what actually playing some solid, intense defense can do.
I'm not suggesting we're a better team without Keyonte because I don't think we are. But our defense gets noticeably better when we don't have George and Cryer on the court together.
And typically fewer turnovers.

Did Flo's double-double include TOs??

Key is the worst defender on the team IMO. He's also an inefficient scorer. Still has some maturing to do.

No doubt if playing like we were at that time, those comments will 100% be true.

Bonner makes our D better. And if he could average what he did tonight we're a totally different team.

His offensive production never been that good against good teams though

It would be interesting to know what would have happened had keynote never gotten hurt. We'll never know

Y'all, I have a sincere question. No sarcasm. With Key's current issues of TO's, poor D, and inconsistent O, and in light of this amazing team win, and with him going out when it's 18-4, after which magic happens, is it reasonable to think that his not being on the floor today helped Baylor win?

My head went there too....but I'm telling myself this was just a one game sample size.

It did feel like we had more team ball on offense and not as much isolation ball.

But when he's on it has to be a total headache for teams to pick their poison between him, Flag, and Cryer.

I know it's tempting to think that when you win, but do you really think Bridges, Bonner and Flo are gonna put up 17, 13 and 12 every game? From a sample size of almost 30 games when he also wasn't always on the floor at the same time as those guys, the answer to that is No. Bonner is a much better on-ball defender than George (neither are particularly great against switches), but until today Bonner's offensive limitations were so bad that Drew wasn't even playing him.

The bigger reason we looked better defensively today was that Jon, Flo and Bridges basically shut down Timmy Allen, Cunningham and Bishop on the inside and we dominated the boards. That didn't have anything to do with KG not being in the game.

KG has his faults but we are a better team with him than without him.

Yeah..this was basically everyone lifting their game up to compensate for George being out...if you can guarantee me that that will happen EVERY time...then yeah we might be better without him... but I think we know that can't happen..

Yup. Everyone including the crowd, who helped create a true home court advantage.

Said this on another thread, go small for the minutes Bridges needs a rest and give those 10 or 12 backup minutes to Bonner. Leave Lohner on the bench with Turner and Loveday. Wouldn't be surpised if Key is out on Monday also with such a quick turn around, so we may need even more from Bonner in the short term.

Lots of different player combinations today, Loved watching Drew move John to the 4 spot and Josh at the 5 spot at least for a while. John is quick enough to play the 4 and spell Bridges, plus he can make a 3 this year
Crawfoso1973
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Was an interesting experiement but the EJ / Josh O combo was a disaster. EJ is not the same guy he was 2 years ago when he had elite lateral quickness. Give the backup 4 minutes to Bonner and play small ball the 10 or 12 minutes Bridges needs to rest.

Could anyone have shot those FTs?

Not sure how that flagrant works but if Drew
Could have picked anyone on the court and Flo shot them, jist amazing at his FT thrnaround after 6 years

It's so stupid for any college athlete to not shoot 70% and with minimal effort 80% should be achievable by most

I don't think it's coincidental that our interior defense improved when we replaced a player who can't stay in front of his man with one who can.

It's a lot easier to defend the post when you're not having to help off your man constantly to stop dribble penetration, which happens on a near every-possession basis with George and Cryer on the court together.

No worries bear2b2, only a few more games and then you won't have to see Key in a Baylor uniform.

George is top 20 in the Big 12 in points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game, FG%, FT%, and 3 pointers made per game. Not sure how many others in the league are on that list, but it's not a long list.

There are frustrating turnovers, but some of the comments suggesting we are better without him are completely absurd.
