Could be Arkansas. They may not have enough time to gel with Nick Smith, but he's shown some incredible flashes in the last two weeks since he's been back. They'll most likely be seeded anywhere from 7-10.

North Carolina, Illinois or Kentucky.

And as a 2 seed, there's a good chance we'll get one of them in the Round of 32.

We've had brutal draws the last few years. Thankfully the team in 21' was so good it didn't matter.

Any 1-2 that draws UK, Unc (if they make it), a relatively healthy Arkansas, or TCU (if they fall past 6) is going to have potential problems. Don't know enough about Illinois. Many would be matchup problems for most of the 1-2s this year.

I was thinking of an unexpected team making it all the way to the championship game.

It was a lame joke.

I don't know who this years North Carolina is but I would say they come from the Big East or the Big Ten. Those conferences have been beating each other up so there is a high speed in there that is going to peak at the right time.

You could of course say the same thing about the B12. I agree that TCU with a healthy Miles could be a dangerous team capable of making a FF run.

The B10 is garbage. I was high on Purdue 3 weeks ago but they're average at best.

After last night's game, I could be wrong about Arkansas. They looked like garbage.

Tenn is legit defensively. They're pretty bad offensively but defensively they can shut down anyone. Arky with the right matchups can make a big run. Tenn is a bad matchup for them

There will be no 8 seeds in the Final Four this year.

TCU. Duke's playing a lot better. No one's going to want to play TCU.

They gave Miles back. Very predictable.

TCU is just a really tough match up for anyone because they have size, they have depth, they have the ability to go from small to large or vice versa, and they are really good in transition. The problem for them will be turnovers and those weird lack of scoring stretches they go through because outside of Miles they really don't have many pure shooters.

Kentucky lost to Vanderbilt AT HOME tonight - wow, can't figure that team out, definitely Jekell & Hyde. I think Illinois is similar to Kentucky in that sense, one night they look like they could beat anyone and then the next game they can lay an egg.

UK lost because their only PG, Cason Wallace, got hurt with 19 minutes to go and was lost for the game. The other PG was already out with an injury. It's an In-Out offense based on the PG being able to feed Oscar or Toppin, or the bigs flipping it back out to Wallace of Wheeler. Suddenly they didn't have anyone who could dribble or distribute.

Yep, they are up and down but when they are up, they are tough. Looked like they could have fallen to an 8 at one time but with the win tonight they won't fortunately for the #1s. On their game I think they would be a nightmare for a Purdue or a Houston.

Fully agree on Purdue and Houston. Purdue, in particular.

On the flip side, I could also see them going out early against a really fundamental, disciplined, good shooting team that could take them out of their transition game and take advantage of TCU's careless ball handling and passing.

That's what I love about the tournament. It's a lot about the matchups you get.

They're streaky and have dealt with some injuries as well. We all know the limitations of Cal rolling out the ball at times too. I haven't kept up to date on seedings but looks like they will end a little higher although this loss could get them closer to an 8. Could easily rise up and test a team or could get knocked out in the 1st round just as easily.

Another set of teams in general I would be hesitant to see early are the big east teams. The environment and style of play they run through in conference is underrated in my view and very tough.

I agree. I think both those teams in their own way could execute on that discipline gameplan you described.. but I would be concerned about either one of them. I think a Villanova from a year or two ago would really match up well against a team like Tcu. They would frustrate and grind out a team like Tcu with their methodical tough style. They would also have enough athletes and skilled guards to match.

I think Purdue due to the footspeed of Tcu and the toughness would struggle a bit.

I mention Houston because of their hyper aggressive defensive style. If they catch Tcu on a sloppy day.. would be fine. If they catch them with a Miles On day.. they have the guards, size, insane conditioning, and toughness to really put Houston's style to the test and gas them out (or foul them out with relentless downhill pressure.

You never know who shows up due to their inconsistency on offense and their mediocre outside shot. But they are tested and I would not want to see Tcu specifically if I was either of those teams.

I've seen a few brackets that would have us running into Providence in the R32. Not sure that's who I want to see across from us.
Quinton

Nope..it isn't. The big east because of the regional rivalries is a tough and intense environment. Those teams are tested in my opinion and a little underrated/overlooked. Would not want to see a big east team in the second round. Even if a Creigton were to fall to a 7 would not be great. Both of those teams are good, solid, teams that would be a struggle.

But I see Duke is also projected as a 7 which is another team that I sense might peak at the end. The matchups this year are going to be tough almost any way you get it.

I've seen brackets with us versus Kentucky in the 2nd round. So, I figure Kentucky is this year's North Carolina.
