Surprised a Tech twitter account has us at 3 and Tech at 5 even though we have exact same record.

I was wondering if this chart is actual current standings. My guess is head to head is first tie breaker then overall record? At a glance maybe the chart is based on that.

Nah..it just appears it's in the order of AP ranking..if 2 or more have the same record they're just listed in that order .

Baylor ISU then Tech because that's how they are in the polls.

You are right. I should have studied it closer.

But KSU in front of BYU? With same winning percentage

In Roberts Rules of Order 5-5 trumps 4-4 even if they're the same winning percentage.

Instead of showing the number of teams, which we already know, the numbers should show the rankings as tied:

1. Houston
2. Baylor
2. Iowa State
2. Tech
5. Kansas
6. TCU
7. K State
8. BYU
9. UCF
9. Texas
9. OU
9. Cincy
13. WVU
14. OSU

Adjustments can be made if there are criteria used.

ISU does look pretty good.

But SOS is pretty minimal. Outside of OSU, every team is a tough out especially at home.

Ok....top of conference is

UH 8-3
ISU 8-3
BU 7-4
TT 7-4
KU 7-5

Saturday games:

TT @ ISU
BU @ WVU
UT @ UH

Most likely outcome BU beats WVU...UH beats UT...ISU beats TT. That would have us in solo third behind UH and ISU tied for first.

Of course....nothing is a sure thing in the B12.

If BU wins and ISU loses to TT and UH gets beat by UT we have a 4 way tie for first with BU/UH/ISU/TT all at 8-4.

Other permutations possible too of course. Anyway...good to see we are hanging near the top.

And you may recall we barely escaped with an OT nail biter win in Stillwater at the start of the conference season.

Solo third

ISU and UH play Monday night in Houston....so the tie at the top won't last long

Houston, Iowa State & Kansas are the only Big 12 teams that are undefeated at home. Everyone else has at least one home loss. Alas, that includes our Bears!

ISU has a relatively "easy" schedule by B12 standards after the UH game

We find a way to beat BYU in Provo and the game changes. This is the pivot game. They pull that off and I really like their chances to make a run.

Nobody outside of duct tape Ku has our talent..we just needed time to figure it out. Keep building

My thoughts exactly. A win in Provo could energize the time to face Houston at home Saturday. If we can win that one too, we could win out in the next 4. I don't really expect that because they league is too good & the games too difficult. But it's nice to know it's possible and the team is playing great now. If Love is able to play again it increases our odds.

I hate the "if only game" because usually you win a game or games you shouldn't have. But dad gum we haven't stolen any games this year. We've only given them away. To be honest, it's an embarrassment that we aren't 10-2 right not and could be even better.

Oh well we are playing good ball right now. Let's get it done and make Saturday the biggest game of the year!

I think you could make a pretty strong case that we stole the Oklahoma State game, and the Cincinnati game could have gone either way, which speaks to how we were playing to open Big 12 play. But we've definitely let more winnable games slip away than we've stolen.

ISU and Houston are the two best squads in the league right now. And ISU has a very very favorable schedule down the stretch. Possible 5-1 finish. To have any chance of catching them 2-0 again this week is required and that feels rather unlikely. That's not a knock on BU that's a credit to how tough these games are. Zero way there's a team with a tougher last 6 in league play than what awaits BU

Yeah I wish there was someone with a lot of time on their hands to research who got the best draw on the unbalanced schedule. I.e. who got to play West Virginia and Okstate twice and got only UH Kansas Iowa St etc once.

Would love to win the conference...but i'm most concerned with us maintaining a 3 seed or better.

Conference championships in basketball have never been that big a deal to me. It's cool to win them, for sure, but I'll happily take a run to the Sweet 16 or deeper any year with or without a conference championship attached. And I'll be disappointed with a first-weekend tournament exit most years with or without a championship.

And I care even less about them now that everyone in our league is playing a different schedule. The paths to the title vary widely in difficulty with this new schedule, making it mean less than it ever has IMO.

We beat BYU on the road and we're beating Houston at home. That BYU road game, and I know you disagree, will be really tough. Think it's our hardest game left.

But if Iowa St wins tomorrow, it might be over with their remaining schedule. At a minimum, would like to have wins over both of the two "best." While motivation is uncertain, like our chances v Uh at home.
