Baylor's RayJ Dennis Named to the AP All-Big 12 Second Team
WACO, Texas – Baylor guard RayJ Dennis earned a spot on the media’s All-Big 12 Second Team announced Tuesday by the Associated Press.
The Plainfield, Ill., native was also voted to the All-Big 12 Second Team and All-Big 12 Newcomer Team Sunday by the league’s coaches. In his only season in Waco, Dennis ranks second on the team, averaging 13.5 points, and a Big-12-leading 6.7 assists per game. The senior has also been a staple on the floor for the Bears, averaging 37.7 minutes per game in conference play, which also leads the league.
With 140 starts in 160 games in his college career, Dennis ranks 11th among active players in games played and tied for ninth among active players in career assists (686). His 208 assists and his 6.7 assists per game rank as the fifth-most in a single season in program history.
Dennis continues the trend of point guards excelling under Scott Drew, as BU’s head coach has now guided 13 of his last 14 primary ballhandlers to All-Big 12 honors.
No. 3 seed Baylor opens play at the 2024 Big 12 Championship with a quarterfinal matchup at 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPN or ESPN2. Earning a double-bye, Baylor will await the winner of No. 6 Kansas and the winner of No. 11 Cincinnati and No. 14 West Virginia.
