I cheer for the teams in our conference I like and against the ones I don't. But to pretend like national perception of individual leagues doesn't shape narratives is naive.

And if the Big 12 ****s the bed in March, it feeds the (legitimate IMO) notion that the league's metrics and reputation have been manipulated/inflated by avoiding meaningful out-of-conference matchups.

At the end of the day, I only really care how Baylor does. But we need our league to be well thought of if we want our accomplishments to mean anything.

It's not a bad thing for Baylor that 8-10 Big 12 teams are about an even bet to make the NCAA tournament in 2024. Less than 10 years, you could go 9-9 in our league and end up in the NIT.

That's why out-of-conference and especially NCAA tournament success matters. It creates better opportunities in the future.

We really could use Dainja. Combine him with Missi and we have an inside scoring presence.

Dainja is a good player, but he fits Illinois' offense better than ours. And he needs a hard-nosed coach to keep him motivated and accountable. That transfer has been good for him. I don't think he'd have become the same player at Baylor.

Nevada's resume was really good. I was impressed when looking at that matchup.

I like their guards. Them guarding Holmes was my biggest concern.

The SEC's also-rans have looked terrible today. Mississippi State and South Carolina didn't even look tournament worthy against talented, but pretty middling teams from Michigan State and Oregon. I picked both also because I've never believed in the soft middle of the SEC.

Oakland is a really interesting team. They have one really good shooter and crash the offensive glass super hard. It's been a good offensive formula so far for them against Kentucky.

I found a team more frustrating than BU. Kentucky is a roll the ball out there team. Crazy high one game upside but ridiculous lulls in concentration and effort.

Commentators said the refs let a lot of physical play go on in the ByU game, and they did not respond well to the Lack of foul calls
