Drew to UK is not likely to happen but the one thing that should scare Baylor fans wanting to keep him is Scott and Homer are good friends with Barnhart.
Cal turned down a $100M offer to be Head Coach and President of Operations for the Cavs when they told him they were bringing back LeBron and getting the #1 Pick in 2014

I neither want nor expect Scott Drew to leave for Kentucky.
HOWEVER, the idea of Kentucky landing the head coach that Louisville fans convinced themselves was taking THEIR job for a month, would be ALL the LOLs.
The Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Syracuse, Louisville, and Villanova jobs have ALL opened in the past three years.

A new era.
Sutton got a raw deal. Billy Clyde kind of set himself on fire.whitetrash said:
All Scott needs to do is go back and study what happened to Eddie Sutton and Billy Clyde Gillespie when they made that move to run (not walk) as fast as possible in the other direction.

Arkansas is one of the top basketball jobs in the SEC.

Resources, rabid fan base, Calipari gets fresh start, but he needs to work on roster construction - because that’s been lacking over the last few years. Needs to hit the portal harder because a freshman-laden team isn’t the… https://t.co/b7p19VLQwz
If Calipari indeed heads to Arkansas, and Kentucky ponies up 9-10 Million a year (Cal currently making 8.5), it will be hard for Dan Hurley to say no

A 4-5 million dollar pay raise is something most would understand pic.twitter.com/yjs9Ul1KOy
It's only a half a million dollar pay cut, also respect not jumping to the NBA.boognish_bear said:Cal turned down a $100M offer to be Head Coach and President of Operations for the Cavs when they told him they were bringing back LeBron and getting the #1 Pick in 2014

That logic is how the SEC got cemented as the top football conference. They kept having an SEC school win the NC and ESPN/ media declared it the best conference until it pretty much became true.EvilTroyAndAbed said:Porteroso said:PartyBear said:
The XII is looking as stable as the SEC and B10. The payout isn't as high but it is pretty damn stable and in Tang's sport, top brand.
Where do you get that the Big 12 was the top basketball conference? Got destroyed this year.
By your logic the Big East is the best conference.

Not buying it. UCLA won 10 out of 11 Championships, no one in that timeframe ever argued that the PAC 8 was the premier basketball conference in the land. Bama Football used to dominate the SEC in the Bear Bryant days, but the Big 10 was considered a tougher conference with the competition between Ohio State, PSU, Michigan; it wasn't until recently, when Florida, Auburn, LSU and Georgia stepped up competitively that the SEC was acclaimed as the premier conference.cowboycwr said:That logic is how the SEC got cemented as the top football conference. Pretty affluent area of the region. It's not like it's Stillwater.
they had more info at arky than k-state had when they hired coach tang. seems to me tang is a low risk hire compared to some random shining object from directional u or terra haute.cowboycwr said:
This is not a dig at Tang in any way
But this is one of those examples of how I just don't understand the coaching world sometimes (college football or basketball or NFL/NBA) where he only has 2 years head coaching experience and hasn't really proven anything but he gets mentioned for jobs the same as retread coaches who have a longer history with minimal results.. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Generally, you rate a conference by the quality of basketball played by its members. Marquette, Creighton and of course UCONN are top level teams, but there was a drop off in the second tier of the conference that you did not see in the Big 12.
Gillespie has had serious health issues for years now. He almost died while coaching at Ranger College -- needed an emergency kidney transplant in 2018. I don't think there's any direct connection to his most recent leave and alcoholism. He's been battling heart and kidney issues for the better part of a decade now.Mitch Henessey said:BCG is a pretty notorious boozehound, which is what I was alluding to.
