I'll take Langston Love to start over Nunn. He's due.

Nunn will probably start. But remember as the season wore on (prior to his injury) he (LL) was averaging more MPG. I bet Nunn starts and LL finishes games as he's the better player imo

It worked well before so no argument from me. Just don't want LL jumping ship but then I think he's got the type of character to embrace the 6th man role plus CSD has supported Langston through all the injuries and held that spot for him year over year.

Langston is a talented dude. Think he would have ran away with the 6th man award had he stayed healthy. He's a unique case where he's a backup so to speak who plays starter minutes

Yep, 6th man is the the perfect role for Love as instant bench offense. People get hung up on who starts but in our system our top 8 rotation guys are considered starters and play starter's minutes.

He is called Jayden Numb because he lulls guys to sleep with his hesitation moves.

yes that was my thinking

6th man is someone to come off the bench give the team a spark and get the offense rolling. That's not Nunn.
That's Love. He's better as a 6th man.

Love deserves to start over Nunn, he's just clearly the better player. I know that may be awkward for Nunn, but I will lose my mind if i have to watch another season where we keep throwing out guys in the starting lineup who kill our offense.

We got sooo stagnant when Love was no longer an option. I know we're a lot better off in other areas this year to hopefully prevent that, but Nunn was still a major factor in that or rather he was rarely a factor.

I know people loved Love as the sixth man but it's hard to imagine last year Nunn holds on to that starter spot if Love doesn't get injured. Those dreadful 5 minute stretches without a field goal didn't happen with Love on the court over Nunn and waiting for a timeout to get him in would have been a mistake.

Kill our offense? You do know that Nunn shot an elite 44% from 3 last year, right? And a palatable 45% from the field overall. Your dislike of Nunn is not grounded in statistical reality. Health permitting, Nunn and Love should both continue getting the 25-28 minutes they averaged for us last year. My only concerns for both lie on the defensive end but I think Nunn has potential to be decent if he puts in the work this offseason.

Ivan's hate boner for Nunn is very strange. Jayden was far from the problem with our team last year, once we got into the heart of conference play.

I'm looking forward to seeing what improvements he's made in his first full off-season in our program.

I think Wright might slip into the roll of guard offense off the bench. If so, then I would definitely start Love over Nunn.

82, need your prediction once the transfer big is signed.

Don't forget Asemota, will be a great lengthy wing option off the bench who will probably slide into the 4 role and, if he's productive, will give Drew the option to go fast like the natty team with Omier at the 5. Omier really unlocked a lot of options now.

Asemota will get about as much playing time this year as Little did last year unless he packs on about 15 lbs of solid muscle over the summer. He is thin as a rail and avoids contact at all cost against bigger dudes. He will be one of those guys who develops into a nice player over his time here but he's no Day 1 guy.

Nunn is a rosarch test. Offensive stats were solid, but too much dribbling that interrupted the flow of the offense. Basketball is a game of momentary advantages and in the amount of time it took him to dribble assessing any situation, weakside windows closed for teammates. He sort of reminds me of Akinjo and Curtis Jerrels in his over dribbling.

The step back three against KSU at the end of regulation just tells you a lot about a player. Last year Sawyer Robertson threw the most brutal back breaking interception I've seen in a long time against Utah. Tied game. Deep in his own territory. Late in the 4th. 3rd and 16. Pass rush in his face. Falling backwards, tries to jam it over the middle into triple coverage. Just a brutally bad play. I think the step back 3 against KSU may have been worse situational awareness.

I bet he gets more. We do not have many big guys. They will need a rest.

I fullly agree with the first part. I do NOT think Wright will be strictly a backup to Roach. Their minutes will mostly be staggered but I also think they will get a lot of run together. CSD has always liked playing multiple combo guards at the same time. That said, Nunn and Love will still get their 25-28 minutes and I don't think Wright's role will affect which of them starts or comes off the bench.

I was with you all the way until the Sawyer Robertson pass. That was the Offensive Coordinator's fault for not telling him to eat the ball and punt if it wasn't there. Not to mention never calling that play in that situation with that quarterback in the first place. It was brutal.

Back to Nunn. He can't pass. He doesn't have the court vision. You can't coach it. A player is born with it, or they're not.

Jayden Nunn is a shooting guard. Complaining that he doesn't possess skills for a position he doesn't play is ... odd.

I've never not seen him considered a combo guard, he was recruited as such. That means he should have the passing skills and court vision.

Jayden Nunn has never been a point guard. He wasn't one at VCU and he's not one at Baylor. He can handle the ball in short spurts, but we didn't recruit a guy who averaged less than two assists per game in almost 30 minutes per contest at VCU thinking he would be a point guard for us.

That's why I said combo guard. Expectation of ball handling but not a full skill set point guard.
BUCANDOIT82

Walter and Missi had court vision and could pass. Neither could play point guard. Everyone who dribbled the ball on our Championship team could pass. It's a liability to have a guard on the floor that can't pass.

I like Nunn a lot. But Love is a better overall player. Love should probably start but whatever Drew decides I agree.
