Road game v top 15 team with 6 players. Mission impossible.

When you get tired it's not just your legs that give out. You make mental mistakes. Bad shots, missed box outs.

This… long defended him but that's done and over. Not sure why he's even allowed to practice or travel. He's cleared but is just choosing not to play that's beyond obvious at this point

Has Roach added any value all year?

He had the biggest shot in our best win. But other than that, he's been pretty average.

He's regressed offensively. He made open looks last year and had a solid mid range game. This year he's been poor even when off ball.

Hopefully he embraces playing off Wright and Vj. With two guys taking most of the attention I still think he could be decent. Huge whiff in Nil though, I'm with you there.

I'm just amazed by how little explosiveness he has off the dribble. There's just nothing at all dynamic about his offensive game. If he's not hitting jump shots, he brings very little else to the table.

It's not all his fault necessarily, but he's not at all the player I thought we were getting after the season he had last year.

I'll ask again…why do these other ****ers even make the trip OR suit out ever if they're good enough to get any minutes?!

Hindsight is obviously 20/20 but all I know is that at the rate we paid him (confirmed by at least 3 media guys with whom Drew usually confides), we could have split that into 3 players the way Houston, Tech and Iowa St did and had a much more balanced roster that would have guarded against our annual influx of injuries and likely had transfers that had more than 1 year available so that we have some continuity for next year.

Every team has guys on the end of their bench who never play. Most teams play an eight-man rotation -- just as we would be doing if we ever had the same eight players healthy/available on a given day.

Only reason he had to make that OT shot was because he missed a free throw to ice the game.

Roach has been so bad. Wright now looks like he could run laps around him. Roach has zero explosiveness or crafty ability so not sure how he could ever play at the next level, at least NBA.

I have the feeling that both Roach and Omier thought they would come to Baylor and prove they could play out of their natural position. Jeremy wanted to prove he could play point, he can't; and Omier wanted to show he could hit the outside shot so he could improve draft stock and so far he can't. I think the lesson learned is you have to have a roster mostly of guys that are willing to worry more about their college career vs. trying to show for the pros. If they develop during that time like Udoh, Jefferson, Motley, Prince, Mitchell, Butler awesome, but can't sell guys on playing roles they just can't play. I admit I was excited for both Roach and Omier, but they just haven't panned out quite like expected. Norchad has been really good but agree with a lot of posted that something is off. Maybe he just has to bear too much burden and it is showing.

Used to be those towel wavers on the end of the bench were your GPA guys. In the current state of "college" sports, not so sure that's a thing any more.

Omier has been pretty good overall. His biggest issue is hanging out on the 3pt line. I'm sure he wants to show the scouts he can hit the 3. But he's much more valuable playing down low. He's pretty useless as a whole when he's wavering around the 3 pt line. That does the team zero good.
Roach is just brutal. Several posters here pegged him as top 10 portal guy and that is just absurd. Him and Nunn have been horrendous almost all season. Those 2 are the biggest a disappointments imo

I don't think either Nunn or Roach have the quickness to beat their defender with the ball in their hand. Nunn, if he does get around his guy, takes it to the rim only to have it blocked 75% of the time. He needs to develop a floater. Butler thrived off those situations.
I'm not sure what to think of Roach other than he can be a valuable set shooter with Wright penetrating and kicking it out. Roach can drive but struggles with a longer defender, and that is pretty much everybody in the big 12.

Celestine really crapped the bed last night as well. 23 minutes. 0-4 FGs (0-3 3 pt) and 3 turnovers. Every time he tries to drive, he turns it over. He's a good catch and shoot guy - when he's wide open. Get a hand in his face and it's a different story. To win against TT on the road, can't have that stat line.

To play with 6 guys, to shoot so poorly from 3, to miss 3-4 layups and to get crushed on second chance points and only be down 5 with a few minutes to go and a chance to cut it to 3...I like the fight. 2-3 weeks ago this team would have just given up.

Hopeful that VJ can come back healthy in the next game or two. Having a confident/aggressive VJ, Wright and Omier on offense will be fun to watch and can be a challenge for most teams. Having Nunn, Roach and Celestine settle in to more complimentary roles (i.e. catch and shoot, rebound) should help them be more productive.

I think Nunn is plenty quick, he just can't finish anymore. Roach just seems to be moving in quicksand with the ball in his hands, though. He never gets around or by his man off the dribble.

I agree. I think we're seeing some positive roles develop ... if we can ever get everyone healthy at the same time. VJ and Wright emerging as alpha playmakers is a really positive development, as is Omier reemerging as a physical force in the paint/on the glass.

But because of our myriad injuries, our rotation changes by the game, which makes it very difficult for each player to settle into the role that best helps the team.

He was picked to be Big 12 Newcomer Of The Year. Hasn't come close to delivering.
