With St John's winning the Big East tournament tonight, most of the brackets have now moved Tech down to a 3 seed and replaced with St. Johns. Since we are likely either a 9, 10 or at best an 8, it means if we make it to the second round we would likely get:
If we're a 10:
Michigan St.
Tennessee (not likely)
St. Johns (not likely
Bama
If we're a 9 or 8
Auburn
Duke
Florida
Houston (not likely)
Of course, better focus on the first game first or none of this matters.
100% we're getting Florida. Let's make that be a problem. First things first.
I sure hope not. I really hope we get a 10 seed
So our message to the selection committee is "respect us a little bit, but not that much?"
Lighten up … just saying I would rather play a two seed in the second round than one of the one seeds. That being said, Duke would be interesting if we get past the first round.
Sometimes even I don't get my humorous attempts. Thinking a 10 seed might be better than a 9 reminded me of the golfer who's tee shot was so bad he ended up with the choice of playing the ball where it was or seeking relief. He asks his veteran caddie what shot could give him the best chance at the green. Caddie tells him, "back at the tee would be good." No easy shots or wins from where we are.
Sorry my bad and my misunderstanding. I've unfortunately had too many golf shots to count where going back to the tee box would be a huge improvement. One of the benefits of getting older is that it's hard to get in as much trouble when you can't hit the ball out of your own shadow.
No worries. Back to the bracket. I think we must not take Miss. State lightly. We lost to Colorado, folks. But getting to the second round with a chance at the 1 seed, huge. Love to see Duke Freshman against ours. We would need the game of the year from us to have a chance.
For 50-60 years a lot of good Baylor players and teams never got a chance at post season. We can't ever take this for granted.
