Powell is having a helluva game.

He's been awesome. And against a team with a really good frontcourt.

Obi hasn't shot much or well tonight, but he's got seven assists to two turnovers. Pretty good for a scoring guard running the point.

I think zoom has had 4 fouls like this whole second half

He's been almost all their scoring

It has been a really good game between 2 teams that will play hard and will be fighting for an at-large birth all season. Neither are world beaters at this point, but I like the defensive effort of Baylor tonight. I think we will continue to get better.

It's also been nice to not have to read all of the negativity that is usually commonplace on these threads ... what or who is missing?

My bigger concern with him is that he's been beaten off the dribble consistently all night. Hope this is an isolated poor night on D.

Good defense right there before that whistle

That's it for zoom!

Looks like Skillings might have shown off his acting skills on that push, but well done regardless

Most promising individual things I saw tonight: Rataj looked a lot more like the Rataj that I had read about and expected. We (and he) needed that. And, of course, Powell's play tonight.

So we are implementing a new defense. Good!

Williams was great, too. We're going to win a lot of games getting 24 points from Powell and Williams.

I can't complain about the defense. They ended up shooting just over 40 percent from the field.

And Agbim had some great closeouts on 3s, which helped contribute to their 3-of-20 finish from distance.

As Fran said, we're gonna be a work in progress through the year. But, this team is kinda giving me vibes of being a fun team to watch and one that will give it their all whether win or lose.

Almost 60% from 2 and over 70% from the charity stripe.
12 assists and under 10 turnovers.
Much improved defense.

Lots to like, and lots of room to get better.

I liked Powell at signing but he's giving more than even I expected. Excellent play all around. Could be a very good role player. Still need Bodo for this whole thing to work.

Williams was a great find too. Explosive and actually has a decent feel for the game. Still raw but the type of player Drew can continue to develop

Good win in front of a good crowd

Really nice win.

I already like this team more than any of the last three.

Having seven capable players is nice. We need to get White up to speed, so we have a real eight-man rotation. But there are no holes in the rotation otherwise.

I tried to tell you guys on Williams.

Watching his tape, that dude lived in the paint. As a true freshman, he got in there at will on just about everyone he played.

He needs to improve his shot obviously, but he brings a lot of energy as a bench player and gives us the second point guard we need to have a viable rotation.

Back to back games with less than Drew's stated 12 TO goal. Gotta love that. It didn't happen many times last year.

That helped mitigate the rebound differential tonight.

Same about liking this team. These guys bring the energy, and it's exciting to watch. They show more team swagger than any of the teams I remember us having in a while

Yep...they seem ego-less and full of effort. That's easy to pull for.

Solid active defense tonight. Washington missed a ton of bunnies but they were contested .

I complained about the FT percentage of all these new players in the off-season. Too many 1 out of 2's down the stretch that will cost us in conference is the only nitpick I have .
Quinton

The effort is so much better than the last several years. Even Obi who everyone pitched as a complete liability on defense was closing out hard.

They aren't great but a nice foundation to build on. If they can get both bigs back, this team could surprise.

Very quick hands too

I know it's very early...but it feels like there is good chemistry and selflessness with this team.

That's quite an accomplishment for CSD to pull off with a full reboot roster.

I have to say, it really is amazing how well they seem to flow together as a team when you realize not one single person on that floor played together last year. That's actually quite incredible and speaks highly of the coaching staff and the GM who helped identify personalities who could work together well.

This team may have a Sweet 16 ceiling, but I think it's got a pretty high floor.

And I don't feel like I'll ever get as frustrated watching it as I have the last three teams because it plays with such relentless effort and general high IQ. You can tell watching this team that it's a veteran bunch. There are a lot of guys on this roster who have played a lot college basketball.

Ashley posted on here and said it was a wrist injury related to an ATV accident during the summer.
