ISU, AZ have both kept their cores together as well. Could throw BYU in but I front because they have what feels like a billion $$ Nil fund
Cincinnati kept a core together last year. If they can do it, it's not the impossible task so many here try to make it out to be. It's about building the right culture and finding the right fits.

Not everyone wants to go hit the open market every single season. Some guys still choose a school and a coach and will stay if you take care of them.

This is my larger point. Not sure why it's so heavily argued on here. I'm not arguing that it's easy to retain large chunks of rosters. But it's definitely not this impossible task that it's being made out to be on here. Drew's recruiting shift in itself tells us that's what he's going to work towards going forward. I'd have to look but does next years incoming class have a single 1 & done lock? (NBA draft) I'm fairly certain it doesn't. That alone is evidence CSD is changing his philosophy or at least trying to.

You may be able to keep a core 2-3 players but the rest will be up for grabs. UH has been an exception to this point, but keep an eye on them this year after stocking a roster for the first time with primarily highly rated recruits.

I'm curious about this. I've noticed some of his guys are fading on big boards. Would be crazy if he retained 2 of the 3 for another year bc the freshman class is so strong and he doesn't exactly feature first year guys.

Sampson has had impeccable timing for this era. Credit to him, with a little luck involved too. Retention has been his greatest strength.

If Drew retains Carr with the guys sitting back developing.. would be on track to get back to elite of the league as Tech, Hou, and Iowa st are at reset points next year while we should be trending up.

This may not exactly fit this thread… but I didn't wanna start a new thread just for it.

But this is a grown ass man starting his college journey...
