Drew has said Sanchez is responsible for the defensive gameplans. Who does offense? What are the areas of responsibility for Tweety and Melvin?

Athleticism. He put up huge numbers in HS. Most of it because he was quite literally 10 times more athletic than opponents. Didn't need to be polished because he was the far superior athlete

Do you think Scott is better with less talent that stays around for longer, or does Baylor just need to buy better players?
PS: for the announcers sucking Kelvin Sampson's dick, how many Natite's does he have, and how many does Scott Drew have?

Will be hard to make the tourney this year. Sad to see us fall this far.

Sampson owns Drew nowadays. And it's not even close.

If Mitch doesn't do something big this year, I'm ready to fire him too. He has been horrible

Sampson is a great coach. But in my mind where he and his staff really excel is in identifying talent that fits exactly to his offensive and defensive philosophy.

Sounds like a good coach. A certain coach in college football does the same thing and has his basketball school in the national championship in year 2

This team is just putrid offensively. I'm tired of putting athlete only type players on the floor. Go get guys who can actually shoot the rock.

Skillings injured. So much for depth. We are truly cursed since the Natty.

By the looks of things with skilling's injury, on top of everything else it looks like once again Seven man rotation here we come.

2 years in a row. As you've said repeatedly, we've really whiffed on a lot of guys the past couple of years. Something is off in our assessment process in how the talent aligns with what we want to do offensively and defensively. Actually, we haven't had 2 pure shooters on the floor at the same time since 22-23 with LJ and Flagler.

Sampson is unquestionably one of the best coaches in the country. He's been schooling Drew since Houston joined the Big 12.

Drew really needs better assistants. Been tough since Tange.

I know he's amazing. That still doesn't answer either of the questions asked

Just feels like Drew is obsessed with recruiting athletes over polished players. That's fine when you surround a few athletes with polished offensive guys.
But as you just said the amount of whiffs has become my biggest concern. The whiffs are way outweighing the hits. For every Carr we get 3-4 Ratajs who are completely worthless in every facet

He doesn't give his talent any choice but to fit into what he does. You either fit his culture, scheme and the role he has for you or you sit and eventually transfer out. But those who stay know they'll be developed and win a ton of games while that happens.

Contrary to the way we run our program, you don't have to let the inmates run the asylum. Strong, disciplined, demanding coaches still win in 2026.

I would like to know how much of what Drew has landed in the portal are his first picks. Is he whiffing on a bunch of people, and that's why we're ending up with who we have? Or is the talent evaluation just whiffing at every level.

The football and basketball programs are starting to feel like the Kevin Stelle /Harry Miller days. Sad indeed.

Even if we end up doing well with the bottom half of the conference, which obviously includes us, I'll be amazed if this bunch wins more than 6 tops which of course won't even get us to the bubble level. The NIT may well be in jeopardy also.

Scott Drew has always been attracted to shiny things. He likes being in the conversation for blue chip recruits and touting the number of players he's put in the NBA. Neither of those things are necessary to build winning college teams, which is clearly a bigger priority for other programs in our conference than it is for us.

We've completely lost our way. Rather than doubling down on the strategy that got us to the pinnacle (get old, stay old, develop studs), we went right back to star-chasing ... to our own demise.

Is Scott Drew still untouchable on here? He has always been more of a recruiter and culture guy than a nitty-gritty hands-on kind of coach. We paid for him to have a super expensive stadium, and we suck balls

Tech bought their way into the College Football Playoff.
Baylor has to do the same in Football and Men's Basketball, or join the FCS

Good question. I know Drew speaks frequently of his GM and his assessment of players. Don't know what role he plays compared with the assistants and Drew.

Unpopular but if he fails miserably again next year ( this season will be a huge failure ) then BU needs to start considering life after Drew. He needs to show he's willing to adjust

From all media reports, our basketball NIL budget was in the Top 25 (most said Top 10) last year and again this year. Not sure money is the sole issue.

Tech has billionaires willing to burn millions to see Tech be good at sports. I've seen nothing to suggest has any such donors.

We need to look at what the many Big 12 teams that are lapping us without a Cody Campbell are doing.
