KANSAS CITY, Missouri – No. 13 seed Baylor (16-15) takes on No. 12 seed Arizona State (16-15) on Tuesday, March 10, at 11:30 a.m. CT, at the T-Mobile Center. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Random thoughts --

1. As boognish_bear said, I like these guys. I heard Drew say in a recent presser that they didn't miss on character. That is clear to see and still important to Baylor fans.

2. These guys could have started mailing it in weeks ago, but the opposite has happened. I'm glued to the TV for however many more games they give us.

3. I personally think Drew has done an exceptional job coaching this year, having been dealt a very bad hand. This late season surge is evidence of that.

4. The All-Big 12 honors came out yesterday. There could not be clearer proof of my and many Baylor fans' frustration with the one-and-done player. Carr and Yessoufou are both going to be first round NBA draft picks. Carr is third-team All-Big 12, Yessoufou is Honorable Mention. Not even at the top of their own conference. What we all wouldn't give if they would just give us two years.

Agreed. I hate watching Michael Rataj play basketball, but there's no one on this roster I dislike. They're unselfish and generally play hard and compete. They're just not as talented as most of the rosters we've had in the last 15-plus years.

The excuse has always been that KC never matters. At the end of the day that rationale is simply an excuse. Once a decade Drew has his team playing well in KC.

Between our lazy, soft-ass defense and single-digit basketball IQ, this team is just a really frustrating watch.

We played about three good minutes in the entire first half, used those to cut a double-digit deficit to four, and Yessoufou promptly and inexplicably takes a quick pull-up 3 to end a zero-pass possession and send Arizona State on another big run.

This team is just exhausting.

Our rebounding was so good against Houston. I was hoping we had turned the corner on that. That just seems like mostly a effort thing.
