Washington was by far the more physical team tonight. That is very unusual.

Clark will be fine and we will get better. A lot better.

BTW, Kegler leaving has now cost us 1game

Clark 3/14. Took the most shots on the team. Should have benched him midway through the second half. If we're gonna ride him this season then we're in trouble. Like others said, we were better with our guard oriented offense when he went down last year. That's just the reality.
Dude's coming off a season-ending knee injury. This is a very bad take.
I'm still trying to remember when Clark ever dominated before the injury. It looks like the same player to me.
You mean the same player that averaged 15/8 and was the most efficient player in the entire country? Yeah, he sucks.
Against what competition though? I remember him having a nice game against a shorthanded Oregon and balling against TCU. Everyone else we played before he got hurt wasn't very competitive. I'm just saying he's probably not the savior some are expecting him to be.

Last defensive foul on UW was with 15 min left. Our big guys combine for 10-35. It's not a coincidence. We got more and more aggressive as the 2nd half went on and continued to get hammered on dunk attempts at the rim.

We should've still won the game, but that was Phog level absurdity.
Officials, like they normally do, call a completely different game in the second half. Still, this team seemed to lapse on defense when the offense dried up in the second half... which was the opposite of the first. I Had nothing in transition in the second half at all aside from a near turnover that led to a Bandoo three. This game won't hurt us come March but it's so frustrating to see a complete collapse like that.

Clark dominated his last 5 games last year and actually averaged over 16 a game against P5 opponents. We need him averaging 17 and 8 this year. Matt Mayer needs to find a way to stay in games, we could've used an offensive spark down the stretch.

Maybe not, but the hand-wringing about his play is very overblown. He was also good against Wichita State, despite that game being a blowout. He'll figure it out. Not worried about him at all. I'm more worried about Vital not being able to shoot, Freddy still going up extremely softly at the rim, Teague shrinking from the moment, and Mitchell not providing much on the offensive end. If we want to fret, there are much more legitimate things to fret about than a player returning from a serious injury getting his sea legs under him in game 2.

We don't necessarily need him to average that many points but just be efficient which I think he'll get there.

I don't know. Could've easily added 6 more turnovers to the total. To your point however, for all our supposed depth, Mayer got 2 minutes and Flo DNP with Turner redshirting.

I hear you. I guess we have to take this as an early wake up call. To the players and the staff. Early losses like this can have greater benefits than wins that coverup problems.

As frustrating as this was, I have to convince myself the team grew a lot more tonight than if we'd played our usual 20+ point non-conference win over a SWAC or MEAC school.
That remains to be seen.

Of course it does. However, it would be really odd if this is the one year a Scott Drew team fails to dramatically improve. He can and will coach'em up. He always does.

Glad we get Butler and AZ at home and don't play any scary games on the road until conference starts, really. Should provide ample time to learn from this and gel. Hopefully we can go into Gainesville and give them a tussle.

2011 says hello. But, yes, I'll also ride with Drew who is incredibly consistent and delivers year after year. Again, this game won't hurt us if we learn from those mistakes and turn them around.

No, he's better than average, but he does have a pretty obvious ceiling that is below winning a conference title of any kind or getting to a Final Four. He's been at BU long enough for at least one of those to have happened if it was a possibility for him.

Basketball losses always bring out the knee-jerk opinions of Drew...and then he goes and proves them wrong over and over again. It's pretty funny to watch as the season progresses.

Yeah quite a few knee-jerk reactions about our players also in only our 2nd game of the season. Also several on here downplaying a good Washington team by saying they are an average team.

In that disaster of a conference, they could push 28-30 wins.

Hahaha average team...that 5 points you scored down the stretch is exactly what the defending pac12 champs have done to every team in the Hopkins era. Shut that weak stuff down.

You couldn't deal with our length like most teams can't. Just another notch in our belt. Cya!

That was a beyond pathetic display of basketball... Sad part is most of that had nothing to do with Washington's play.

When you have 3 players go 10-35 shooting... Yikes.
Again/..you may want to do research on what Washington has done on defense under Hopkins....this is a very very common tale and opposing fan bases always sound like this..."oh the refs beat us, oh oh we beat ourselves, oh oh Washington is too mean they're too tough"

Clark looks kind of like he did as a freshman. Give him some time. With it being his second game back it will take him time to get back. We looked pretty good but we couldn't finish the game. Too many three pointers at the end. I wish our guards would have taken to the basket at the end to drawl a fouls but then again the refs wouldn't call them anyway.

Last night was a perfect example of "live by the 3, die by the 3". We were hot early and then cooled off. It was an odd strategy to start throwing down low and driving to the basket, imo. Against teams with multiple players 6'9" or above, we are going to have to rely on the mid-range game. It didn't help that Clark looked like he was in slow motion the entire night. He was open multiple times around the basket, but didn't go up quickly with the ball. I'm sure he is still getting used to the pace.

For those saying Washington is a mid-level team, I disagree. They have a very solid team with multiple weapons. Before the game, the ESPN analysts were saying that they could have 2 top ten draft picks on their roster.

I liked a lot of what I saw, but again I got frustrated watching the turnovers and undisciplined play. No lead is safe with the BU men, but at least we come out on top more times than not.

And his other accomplishments are? Some need to stop writing him off as some average coach because the stats, records, and accomplishments prove that wrong, over and over again.
