NEW ASSISTANT COACH
Blair Schaefer
Sept 20, 2022

"Texas Women's Basketball head coach Vic Schaefer announced Tuesday that Blair Schaefer has been elevated from Director of Operations to Assistant Coach. Schaefer had served as the Director of Operations the last two seasons for the program.

As a student-athlete from 2014-18 at Mississippi State, Schaefer was part of one of the winningest classes in program history, as her senior class posted a record of 126-22. During her four years, the Bulldogs were national finalists in 2017 and 2018 and made the NCAA Tournament every season. Following graduation Schaefer spent the 2019-20 season as Coordinator of Player Development with the Bulldogs, before making the move to Austin in 2020.

The announcement of Schaefer as an assistant coach completes the staff, which also includes former All-American and WNBA player Christy Smith as Director of Operations."

CHANGE of HIGH SCHOOL
"After finishing as the Class 6A state runner-up last season, the South Grand Prairie girls basketball team may now be the favorite to win the state championship this season."

"South Grand Prairie HS has added five-star guard Taliyah Parker
a transfer from Putnam City West in Oklahoma. The 6-1 Parker is ranked as the sixth-best junior in the nation by ESPN's HoopGurlz."

South Grand Prairie HS coach Brion Raven said
"It's huge. She is going to help us a bunch; She is super athletic, she is very unselfish with the ball. She is a phenomenal passer. She has probably always had a tag as a scorer, but she can facilitate and distribute the ball. She is a great team player. And defensively, she is off the charts. She can guard 94 by 50. She is the real deal."

"Parker joins a team that will return five-star junior Adhel Tac, a 6-5 center who is ranked as the nation's 12th-best junior. Tac was named The Dallas Morning News' all-area newcomer of the year last season after averaging 14.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in her first season on the varsity, and she already has multiple Division I offers."

Tac had 21 points and 13 rebounds in a 65-41 state semifinal win over Humble Summer Creek ranked No. 2 in the state as SGP advanced to the first state final in program history. SGP will also return sophomore guard/forward Taylor Barnes, who averaged 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds during a 35-5 season that ended with a 40-23 loss to DeSoto in the state championship game."

She looks like Didi Richards twin sister. Plus she has a "tag" as a scorer. That's what we need - some "scoring tags".

I saw some video clips of Booker they shared on their message board. Wow, she's something else. If there are actually 14 other players better than her I'd have to see it to believe it. Texas got themselves a good one.

Center 6-7 Southern Arizona Prep Tucson AZ

Finalists
BIG 12 Texas Tech
Mountain West San Jose State
Southland McNeese State

"Magot is an excellent high major prospect, as she has a great feel for the game to go with her tremendous size and agility. She has impressive defensive awareness and poses a matchup nightmare for opponents on both ends of the floor. Magot cleans the glass on both ends and hustles up and down the floor. I believe she will be a well sought after prospect based on size, athleticism, and potential."

TIFFANY JACKSON
2003-07
Oct 3, 2022

"The University of Texas Women's Basketball program is mourning the loss of Longhorn legend and former Texas Women's Basketball All-American Tiffany Jackson, who passed away on Monday from cancer. She was 37-years old.

Jackson's name can be found close to the top of nearly every statistical category in the Texas record books. She is the only person in program history to have accomplished the combined feat of 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 steals and 150 blocks. Jackson is one of three three-time All-Americans in UT history earning AP All-America recognition in 2005, 2006 and 2007, and USBWA All-America honors in 2005. She was a four-time member of the All-Big 12 Conference Team ...

Following her stellar career at The University of Texas, Jackson was selected by the WNBA's New York Liberty with the fifth overall pick in the 2007 WNBA draft. Jackson would play for nine seasons in the WNBA with the Liberty, Tulsa Shock and Los Angeles Sparks.

In September 2015, Jackson was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Following a successful treatment Jackson received the news in May of 2016 that her cancer was in remission. She immediately began preparing for her return to the court and rejoined the professional team she was playing for in Israel, before signing with the Los Angeles Sparks in February of 2017. Her return to the WNBA enabled her to share her story with a broader audience and help promote personal health care."

This story is important. She was a student athlete while I was in college. Basketball is a game. Life is life. She was stupid kind and a great player. Sending her family prayers as they process this painful loss. Reminded me of Chamika Scott. These women are too young!

Actually IMO this is NC's chance to shine. Personally I believe the "out" in round two probably led to the fourth place pick. No doubt ISU and UT will be good, but OU third might be a stretch.

This happened already. She has been in the dog house with CKM for quite some time. They haven't been on great terms since Hannah was suspended for a period of time in December of last year. From what I understand, Hannah is now spewing all kinds of stuff - has even accused CKM of abuse for telling her she needs to get in better shape, which is 100% necessary to play at the level LSU want to be at this season. Best I can tell, the writing was on the wall for Hannah as far as playing time was concerned, and she's trying to save face.

Hanna has some real issues she needs to admit and get some professional help with. Even Mercer who originally recruited her to BU has ghosted her.
