Wow it has really worked out well for Kim! I just hope and pray it works out for us as well.

Never thought she'd coach that long, this contract would put her over 70 yrs old when it runs out. She is all about power & money though, she's proven that, so who knows?

From her early years as a young athlete, she has been an example of how women have advanced in status in the world of sports! She earned it!

These threads ultimately turn into a pissing match between posters who bash Kim and those who defend her. That hasn't happened yet. Unless I'm missing something

This extension was generated by the AD. Mulkey didn't ask for more money.

When Kim agreed to go to LSU money was the last thing discussed with the AD.
When Woodard brought up money, Kim said just pay me what Baylor is. If you read about the
AD at LSU you'll understand how he operates.

All the media stories said because of the way the contract was structured that Kim is the highest paid coach in the history of NCAA womens basketball.

I received this morning a call asking me how would I bet on the following wager.

Which of the following events happens first :

A. Kim wins three championships at LSU or

B. Nicki wins one at Baylor.

I answered that I don't gamble, she ( my friend the caller) said "your not that dumb".

I think the Bears have a legit shot at the E8 this year. But I do think barring injury LSU will win it all. Wouldn't be surprised if they go undefeated

I believe Geno has a contract that he will remain the highest paid WBB coach. I assume that UCONN will beat the annual by a dollar. Also, is there any way that LSU is making money on its WBB program? Seems like a loss leader. I don't see her lasting through the contract. Another NC and I feel she will retire on top. She is a prime example of a coach adapting and owning the NIL conversation.

With the LSU AD…a trend emerges. As much about his ego as anything else.
Brian Kelly earns $9.975 million per year under the terms of his current contract. But according to auditors, the university overpaid the LSU Tigers head coach by $1 million in 2022. According to reports, LSU started paying Brian Kelly after he accepted the head coaching job in November of 2021.

Sure appears to. I also think it could be a trend emerging. The "I want what their getting" trend.

UConn will not match for several reasons. Geno is too old to go anywhere. And, they have NO money. Dawn will be the one scrambling to catch up, not Geno.

Also, if this were a men's Bball coach with 3.6 million contract, it would be in a footnote, not a national discussion. So good for Kim.

Finally, and conversely, Kim was always mad that Drew made more $$$. Her ego can be soothed since she is paid More than LSU men's coach. Her ego is hard to keep tamed.

Now to the real issue that still matters. I hope NC wins big 12, takes us to the elite 8, and BU announces a contract extension for bigger bucks,

Most college WBB lose money, they are not FB money machines, but there are benefits that come with winning seasons and nat'l championships (like at Baylor). Since KM arrived at LSU, she and WBB brought $$ and attention to Baton Rouge and state of Louisiana. Past 2 years, LSU WBB has broken records in ticket sales. Their Board of Directors said yesterday the ticket sales alone will pay KM annual increases, not including media $$ and SEC $$. They are expecting increased ticket sales to continue for years to come. 94% of season ticket holders from last year have recommitted to buy season tickets again this year. They said KM has made a positive impact on BRouge and LA economy. She is also a fund raising machine, she did that at Baylor. Past 2 years, LSU WBB booster donations and club donations have skyrocketed. At Baylor, she had millionaires in Louisiana, who were not Baylor alum or WBB fans to donate to Baylor. You can love her or hate her, she wins at pretty much anything. Our family has been Baylor fans for many years. Our AD and Prez made a big mistake letting her leave.
