LSU got hosed last year?
Are you kidding me?
That was one of the easiest paths I've ever seen in the Women 's Tournament.
This wasn't like BU's 2019 season, where they truly earned the title and were the best team in the country for the better part of the season.
Baylor beat UCONN, Notre Dame, Oregon, South Carolina (Twice), and Iowa during the course of the season (knocking off the latter 4 teams in the tournament).
So no one can ever say they lucked out that year, as they beat everyone on their schedule that season (minus Stanford on the road).
Last year, LSU's main threats in their bracket were Indiana, Miami, Utah, Washington St, Villanova, NC State, and Michigan.
If I'm not mistaken, outside of NC State's Final Four run in 1998, only Michigan and Indiana had even made an Elite 8 Appearance.
And as Blackie mentioned, LSU was an air-balled free-throw away from most likely going home in the Sweet 16.
As for the lower half of the overall bracket - once UCONN went down, LSU had clear sailing to the championship game (Miami and VA Tech played like they were just happy to be there).
And with South Carolina, UCLA, Maryland, Notre Dame, Iowa, and Louisville all having to beat up on each other on the other side of the bracket, the absolute best-case scenario happened, as Iowa did LSU's dirty work for them and knocked off their biggest threat (in SC).
With Morris gone, this is nowhere near the same LSU team as last year.
And with the bullseye squarely on their back, they will not be sneaking up on anyone this year, and everyone will be gunning for them (see Mississippi State last night).
I wouldn't be surprised if LSU went out in the Sweet 16 this year.
