i watched a lot of the miss state win over lsu. the latter seems to have trouble focusing on the game. too many divas in the huddle, it seems. led by their coach and star. some of the girls seemed lost. not sure kim has her act together this season. they didn't look competitive last night.
Biggest issue I see with LSU this year is that they lack a competent point guard. Van Lith is trying, but she just doesn't have the ball handling skills to deal with the pressure, and her footwork is too slow on defense. She is much more effective at the shooting guard position. Poa is just a mystery this year as she seems to have lost all confidence and is just a turnover waiting to happen. They are really missing the floor general they had in Alexis Morris last year. They also had a couple of player losses due to injury and ?? that made a big difference in bench depth. The starting five are as talented (or more so) than any starting 5 in the country, but when they get in foul trouble or get tired, the drop off is significant. However, as CKM has said before, you go to battle with the soldiers you've got. They will struggle from time to time, but they also have the ability to beat any team in the country on any given night. I feel certain she will remedy her point guard situation in the off-season, Sa'Maya Smith should be back from her knee injury next season, and I believe that all current players have the option to return next year, so it will be interesting to see what they look like at that time. I also would not count them out come tournament time as they are still capable of a deep run depending on their final seed, team draws, etc.
