Last season made it to the great 8 of the WNIT

This year they have a loss to Maryland 98-75 to open the season

They have a bunch of big guards and play a lot like we do it will be a good matchup for us but hopefully we have. another game where all 13 can touch the floor and starters can get some rest!! Any thoughts on the upcoming match up?

Harvard not to be taken lightly. That's pretty decent offensive output vs Maryland. Like you, I would like our starters to be able to work on some specific things, then get off their feet and let the bench work on their growth. Would like to see bigs get some playing time. Want to see team show maturity by quickly flushing that win, despite it being huge, and getting refocused on upcoming game. After a win or after a loss, the next game is the most important, each and everytime! But most important thing is to win the game and keep increasing confidence and team comfort playing together. We lack years of experience playing together and the intuitive play that results from that time together. We're going to need to get that in x4 speed before conference play!

But, boy, like what I've seen so far! Fun group to watch!

Yep. Can't help but think about MBB game vs Yale in the NCAA tournament a few years back when Makai Mason torched us with 3s, then barely scored in next round. When Charles Barkley was asked if Yale could beat BU, his response: "Baylor's gonna kill those guys".

I think a positive, in response to our fears of "trap" game, is we have some kids on the bench who are hungry for playing time and eager to show the staff why they deserve consideration, and those bench players might comprise a team good enough to beat Harvard on their own, not because Harvard is weak, because I don't think they are, but because our bench can be that strong!

Will be fun to see what CNC does with this game!

Until UMBC took down UVA in 2018, the Harvard women had the only 16 seed win in either the men's or women's NCAA tournament when they knocked off 1 seed Stanford in 1998.

As Shooter would say "they've got no head toppers, just a bunch of mites". If the Bears do a good job on the defensive end & don't let them get in a rhythm, then they should be able to 'out-athlete' the Crimson and secure the W.
Just my .02 cents worth

Saw a little of their last game. They have good overall height. Most starting players are around 6" to 6'2". Not particularly great shooters and don't have our quickness. They will probably get their revenge on us average folk when they graduate however when they run the country if they don't sign any letters supporting Hamas.

A win is a win.

Still, Baylor cannot be too happy with a far narrower victory than would be expected from the 21st ranked Bears. To be outrebounded by an undersized and relatively unathletic Ivy League team should feel embarrassing to the Bears.

Baylor shot reasonably well from the field but only to the tune of 64% from the free throw line. The Bears also gave up 10 3-pointers on 24 long range shots to a team with no discernible post presence.

Baylor has weak opponents in the next two games before a potentially challenging encounter with SMU. Hopefully defensive intensity will get dialed up along with offensive contributions from the bench.

Sometimes, a game like this can be good in the long run. Got the win and lots of film of stuff to improve on and fodder for the coaches to chew a little bit. Don't want it to be too easy or seem like a finished product too early. Not even in second season yet. Would have liked to have seen a little more dominance and for the bench to have had an opportunity to play more, but not sweating it. Take the W, learn from game and move on.

UNDERSIZED ??? Harvard started - 5'9", 5'10", 5'11", 6'1", 6'2"
off the bench - 6'0", 6"1"
BU started - 5'6", 5'7", 5'11", 6'0", 6'1"
off the bench - 5'11" 6'0", 5'8" I am not going to count Leti - just skews the numbers.
RELATIVELY UNATHLETIC ??? TURNER, MULLAINEY AND RODRIQUEZ could play for any power 5 team.
Turner could start for any team in the country.

Pleazzzzze Louizzzzze!!

Harvard was badly beaten by a Maryland team that was completely uncompetitive against South Carolina and UConn. Any win is better than the alternative, but a relatively narrow home victory against Harvard is nothing to crow about. Moreover, being beaten on the boards by Harvard after also being outrebounded by Utah is definitely problematical.

But sure, feel free to talk up how big and athletic Harvard is.

i think the post game conference helped figure a lot of the issues we need buggs more on the glass and so they are going to work to get her there .

Why are you acting like south carolina and uconn aren't great teams? #20 Maryland beat unranked Syracuse yesterday by 2 pts. #3 UCLA beat unranked Princeton by 3pts. #6 Stanford beat unranked Duke by 3pts. We need work but so does every team. Everyone has off games. Harvard is a good team. Please don't discredit their effort.

Yes. Our victory yesterday is absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. It was our 3rd game and team is not where it will be in March. A lot of new players and certainly things to work out, but in no way is this 10 point victory embarrassing. Also Harvard is a very good team that has a good chance of being a tournament team.

Harvard was well coached, fundamentally solid team with some very skilled players.

I'm not disappointed in this win at all. I think our team is significantly better than we were last year.

You ran your mouth about Harvard being undersized and now chose to ignore the facts that Harvard was taller at every position than we were - that makes BU undersized. So I called you out on it. You do not like it TS - next time know what you are posting about.

Maryland jumped out to a 22 point lead in the first quarter and Harvard played them even the next three. That tells me a lot - I sure you do not have a clue.
Maryland has internal issues which seemed to have effected their play on the court last three games which does
include a 2 point squeaker win over Syracuse. They get ranked Washington State next - that should tell if they have righted the ship.

Actually, we need for Maryland right the ship so that a win over them will help our RP.

Wow, I don't think Buggs was the problem on rebounding, she had 9.

Thats not what Nicki meant - she stated DLB is in a different position which takes her further away from the basket - hence less rebound opportunities - she stated Dre and Aijah need to own the rebounds (my words) but she wanted the 2's & 3's (DLB) to help more with the rebounding.
It will come as the season pregresses

Rebounding: as is true of every single college basketball team [men & women] in the entire history of the game, this year's Baylor WBB team needs to be quicker in responding to how each game is being called. The refs were calling hand touches on the perimeter very tightly but were letting the pushing and shoving for rebounds mostly go uncalled [they finally called one in the 2nd Half when it was getting extra chippy and our player was knocked down……hilarious call because the exact same thing happened the prior possession (not called) and was much more blatant].

The transitive property doesn't work in sports. I also wouldn't diss the Ivy League schools that much. Princeton just took down OU 77-63.
