#5 Texas loses to #2 South Carolina 67-50. Doubt hornettes will fall out of top 10.
There are not a lot pushing to get into the top 10, so you are probably correct.

#5 LSU had a handful with unranked Vandy, winning out 83-77. Four starters had to rotate sitting out with foul trouble, but three ended up with double digits in the 20s. Former Bear Jordyn Oliver still starting for Vandy.

Dawn Staley of South Carolina signs 6-year $25M contract, making her the highest paid WBB coach.

Dawn is earning her money

Oklahoma 24, South Carolina 49, at the half.

OU is 15-3, relatively easy non-conference schedule, but they're ranked #12.

I watched TCU play South Carolina in Ft Worth with geewago , TCU got hammered by 30.

Dawn has 10 girls that are all very good players, no Super Star, they may well win the NC.

Just my opinion but so far UCLA and Dawns SC squad are the two best teams in the land. The gap between them and the rest of the field is pretty large to date.

I agree with your opinion. SC leads the 12th ranked Sooners by 39 points at the end of the 3rd quarter.

#9 undefeated Ohio St lost to unranked, terrible Penn State team today. OSU only scored 59 points. Now down to 2 undefeated teams, #1 UCLA and #5 LSU.

I suspect after Thursday it will most likely be down to 1 based on looking at who has played who thus far and the margins of victory. But transitive doesn't always pan out in BB. We can also hope it goes down to one tomorrow, but I think that is asking a lot. SC and UCLA certainly seem to be the cream of the crop this year.

UCLA is more vulnerable than SC despite beating them imo. I don't think Close is a very good good coach. She's struggled mightily with some pretty darn talented teams. This is her best squad yet. So will see how she fares in March.
SC likely wins Thursday but never doubt a Mulkey squad.

i watched the entire #5 lsu (20-1) v. #2 usc,e (19-1) game friday. it was in columbia. full house. electric atmosphere. both teams are uber athletic as expected. and they defend like banshees. their speed, length and quickness are noteworthy. they play the game like wvu only at a superior level.

yesterday they didn't shoot worth a hoot. and they are not particularly tall. i can see why ucla beat usc,e earlier in the year for those two reasons, shooting and size.

side note, usc'e coach, dawn staley, just signed a $4.5 million/year contract. she's really the best in the business now. and i can't see any b12 team hanging with either but that's why we play the games. isu lost earlier to usc,e by 40.

You never know. BB more than any other sport I watch is a game where you don't have to be the overall better team to win on a given day. Some days you can't hit the ocean. Some days you end up in awkward positions and pick up more than your share of fouls. It is one of the few games because of that where a player can be eliminated or lose major time on the court even if they play in a manner that is not unsportsman-like. If Baylor could have made their free throws and layups, the UCLA game goes to the final minutes and that UCLA team beat SC.

#13 OU at #7 LSU-- two players ejected in Q1--Scott for OU and Smith for LSU. Brawl on the bayou!

Weak ejections imo. Neither player did anything but shove.
Switched to the Kentucky Bama game it's turning into a hell of a game

Refs need to take a breath before they go throwing players out of games..and then the next game.
Too much ability to effect game outcomes..even games they aren't officiating.

Does it appear that Kim's team play a little dirtier now in the SEC? There are a few teams that her demeanor and team seem to ramp up. Disappointing.

In Q2, OU coach gets T'd up; LSU's Del Rosario gets intentional foul swinging with elbow. LSU up by 10 at half . 25 personal fouls called in first half. Switching over to watch KSU and ISU.

LSU wins 107-100. Were up by 24. 54 personal fouls in game.

And then you have ND over Stanford 96-47.

Stanford is living proof of what happens when you lose an elite coach (there are only 3 left now in WBB) and what happens to the program immediately after. Stanford is 3-8 in the ACC and 11-11 overall. They won't make the tournament. With all their history and knowing the change was coming, it didn't matter.

For those that want to continually diss our program and staff can you not see that we have landed on our feet darn well and have not suffered the pronounced and immediate drop-off that occurred with every other school who lost their elite coach...and those schools knew they were losing the coach well ahead of time. Some of those schools have taken years and years to get back to even being close to where they were. Some are still in the ditch.

You just don't lose an elite coach and not feel the effect. I am thankful that all we have seen was a speed bump and not an abyss. Our key players stayed and didn't desert and kept us afloat long enough to allow us to start the rebuild, which I for one am enjoying to watch and with a staff that is of an age that hopefully we don't have to start over again until well down the road. That change was always coming because of KM's age, it just came sooner than we expected or wanted.

Well said, Blackie. Tennessee is on its third head coach following Pat Summitt's retirement in 2012. Her protege, Holly Warlick, kept the flag flying for a few years, but with the rise of UConn, ND, Stanford, SC, and Baylor, recruiting suffered. Sadly, the memory of Tennessee's dominance in WBB is fading.
