I have always attributed the loss to Oregon State and some other years where we failed in the SS or E8 to our crappy non-conference cupcake schedule. It didn't leave us prepared for the type of teams we would meet there and it gave the committee an excuse to push us down to a 2 seed when our W-L record would say we should have been a 1.LTBear19 said:
Losing to UCONN in 2021, while disappointing, didn't really irk me.
There's no guarantee that we would have held off UCONN in that 2nd half, even if we'd had Andrews and Oliver prepped.
No shame in losing to the GOAT.
Now losing to Oregon State in Dallas in 2016, on the other hand?
That loss should still irk everyone in this forum to this day!
Oregon State had absolutely NO BUSINESS even being on the same floor with us, much less beating us.
There were some years when we had a great home game against a Tennessee or UConn, but the rest would be the sisters of the poor. Back then if you didn't play good teams in non-conference, you didn't play any, because the conference was so weak.
This is one thing I like about CNC's scheduling. She is willing to play good teams in non-conference and will play them on the road.
