Say what you want, but CKM knows how to stay in the W column. She's definitely one of the top two or three coaches in WBB.

Stanford choked that game away, had more than 1 chance to put it away and failed each time.

Stanford was shooting 70% FG and 60% 3-pointers in 1st qtr. LSU couldn't hit a bucket in 1st qtr. It took time for LSU to adjust their defense. But Mulkey made half-time adjustments, and got in Stanford's face during 3-pointers in 2nd half. Stanford went from 60% to 30% on 3-pointers due to LSU adjustments. Mulkey made decision to removed the tall post players and put in all of the quick, fast guards who are the best defenders. She told the guards when it was 3-4 min in 3rd qtr to play with sense of urgency and like there's only 4 min left in the game. That's when they started pecking away at Stanford's 15-point lead. Their 3 superstar guards started stealing and forced turnovers the rest of the game. It's not that Stanford choked, it was more "will" and not wanting to lose from the LSU guards. Their defense and 3 quick guards won the game for them at the end.

Actually it was just that no team can sustain 60% shooting all game; happens all the time - start hot then regress to the mean. Regardless, Stanford had chances to seal the win at the end and didn't, they let LSU hang around, game never should've gone to OT, Stanford failed to get the W in regulation when all the had to do was finish. Epic fail.

Is it just ex-coaches that we can't talk about? Or is every other WBB program and the national scene off limits too?

It's just Mulkey, certain posters feelings get hurt whenever she's brought up.

I didn't bring her up in this thread. Your anger needs to be with the OP. That said you and an few others need to quit melting every time she's brought up. She's the reason BU is even on the map. Of course she's going to be discussed from time to time.

Totally fine to bring her name up just like I have a right to post about a ham sandwich. Both are as about as relevant to us. Post on!

OP is not a regular thread starter here, but is one on R&P board. There TS is a regular troll.

You use the word "definitely" as if it's just coming out. Honey, CKM has been nationally acknowledged as a perennially elite, Top 5 NCAA WBB coach coach for two decades. Ever since Baylor's first natty. Mack and Linda simply screwed the pooch on this potential historic coach legacy at Baylor. It's sad for all fans.

Okay. Go right ahead disrespect me and believe what you will. I know what exactly went down, and the truth does hurt. I know what happened because someone told me, and you can't simply handle that she left on her own. This is coming from somebody who knows Kim Mulkey and her two kids. Seriously get over it already. It's been almost 4 seasons ago now. It ain't no use crying over it like someone spilt your milk in a baby bottle. This applies to anyone else who is a Kim Mulkey lover and not a Baylor fan.

No, I was underscoring her elite coaching skills.

Being a "Mulkey lover" and a "Baylor Fan" are not mutually exclusive.

No, some will never let it go, regardless of anything. Just like some want to live in the past with our football program. Not moving on doesn't help anything for the future.

Is not possible to "move on" while also being able to discuss Mulkey ?
Why are the two intertwined by some of you?
Everyone here should have moved on my by now. In no way shape or form does that mean Mulkey cannot be discussed.

If we take away our 3 natl championship trophies and 3 natl championship banners, then we can permanently remove her name off our history books and forget about her forever. But let's get real, Coach Kim put our school on the map and will forever be associated with Baylor. Our WBB identity will always be linked to Coach Kim and the 3 natl championships. She showed every media and every team around the country that we are natl championship contender every year. Coach Kim's name and statue should be put on campus...period. She has earned it and deserves it after 21 years. But we can also love Coach N and fully support this team 100%, because we love our university and loyal to it. So let the disagreements begin, and that's ok, everyone on this board has the right to an opinion.

Mulkey likely forfeited the statue possibility (at least in the near term) with the way she left.

Had she moved on under different circumstances, then perhaps she has that statue already (along with recognition at the new arena).

Unfortunately, things didn't end well, and here we are.

Mitch is right, though.

If NC makes strides and starts making Final 4's, then folks will likely stop fawning over the old coach.

But seeing that we struggled against UNLV just 10 days ago, we might be waiting a while for that day to come.

That day was today, we hammered a team with a Division 1 ranking of 296, per Massey Rankings. Maybe our beloved AD will give her another large raise. I love Nicki.

No way she is getting a statue, one of best coaches of all time, however there is more to the job than that. Monster ego, and the fact that literally a cheer went up in the athlectic department when she left should tell you all you need to know. Her behavior was so unacceptable her amazing coaching ability could not save her job. For a fact she was welcomed out the door. Too bad for us, she is one of the greatest bb coaches of all time.

I don't know why a lot of Baylor fans always feel the need to try to justify when a coach doesn't want to be at Baylor anymore. The character assassination just to make yourself feel good is wild. Does she have an ego? Absolutely, every great in every sport does. But she also gave her heart and soul to Waco and our school for a long time.

Friends on this board still want to talk about her successes elsewhere, that should be allowed. They clearly have had a different experience than what your cynical view is. You don't have to reply.

Yes. It is going to take Nicki some time to get team back to final 4's. Following a generational coach is extremely difficult. Look at Tennessee program after Pat Summit, look at Stanford after Tara, look at Alabama after Saban. UConn is going to also fall in near future when Geno retires.

Nicki has not met the unrealistic expectations of some fans, but anyone who knows basketball will tell you she has done an excellent job with this program following Kim.

Additionally, with portal and NIL, you are not going to see a small number of teams winning conference titles and national championships year after year like Baylor and UConn did several years ago, regardless of coach is.

Franke, 1,000 blue stars for your comments and personal opinion. We love Coach N and support this team 100%. But we also have respect and admiration for what Kim has done for our WBB program and school. 3 natl championships we can be proud of. We will never say anything negative about her. We don't hold it against her for leaving. We have met Kim multiple times during the 21 years at Baylor, and she was always thoughtful, funny, and very appreciative of our showing up for the games. She took the time to talk to us, including the kids. Based on our multiple families experiences, she is nothing like what fans on this board say about her, not even close. We can tell you with 100% certainty she loves Baylor.

CNC has proven at this point that she will be incapable of building anywhere close to a perennial Top 5 ranked team......as CKM was capable of doing at little 'ol Baylor. I think that's what upsets most fans the most, that Baylor WBB will never again be what it was.

Say what you will, if it makes you feel better, but CKM did not leave Baylor for money, simply because she wanted to, or because she "wanted to go home". She was deity in Waco, and earned it. Relationship with Mack Rhoades and the school administration - whatever truly went wrong there - was the culprit.
