No coach can win a championship without adequate NIL support

It's pretty clear that Baylor wbb isn't supported with adequate NIL, and that CNC is an adequate coach, but doesn't have the drive or fire that CKM has to win championships. That tells you all you need to know about where the administration wants wbb to be at Baylor - somewhat competitive in the Big 12. CNC will be here for a long time.

Texas Scientist, your analysis and statement above seems accurate to me.

It should be apparent after January 20 (UCLA) and January 26 (first TCU game) how this team will probably do down the stretch. I'm hopeful but agnostic right now. We'll see. This is a very different Baylor program and team than what many of us have known the last two decades. BU administration has definitely adjusted their expectations to fit the current reality. I probably never will, but will remain supportive.

How the hell do you know or can tell she doesn't have the drive or fire to win championships?

And going further the poster uses that as proof (all you need to know) that administration doesn't care whether or not BU is highly competitive in the sport.

I can picture the interview with NC.........MR says "we will hire you if you don't have the drive or fire to win championships. But if you do, we don't want you because we don't want to spend the money it would take to do that". What a ridiculous assertion. If she didn't have the fire or drive that is suggested she would be losing players to the portal right and left as I can't see Buggs or Bella or Sarah satisfied with just playing out the string.

NIL has only been around 2 seasons or so. Plenty of championships and championship coaches before that........including CKM.

More reality. It is too early to determine and adamantly state for certainty what we got.

We are going through the same recovery process as did Tennessee (still a work in progress), UT (paid a ton for Goestenkors who flopped) and others who lost an elite coach in WBB. And unlike us who got thrown under the bus and dumped, those schools had advance notice that change was going to occur. And with all their money and history they were a shell of themselves for years after. How much you pay or don't pay doesn't determine the outcome as shown in the examples above. And those changes happened when the parity in the sport was not even on the radar as to what we face today.

What we are seeing should NOT have been unexpected regardless of who we brought in that would come. "Baylor" was never the reason elite recruits came here over the last decade or so, it was always the coach and her recognized elite status. The way I see it is we have a pretty good base upon which to build. I'm sure a sticking point that may hold us back is NIL, but I do not have the first hand knowledge to speak accurately about that. I doubt anyone else here does either.

It is a lot more complicated now than it was only a few years ago, and likely involves factors that we don't even know about or have considered. The one thing I have no doubt about is CNC's desire and drive to win and develop her players.

I am pleased with coach NC progress. The program will keep improving. Truth is the landscape has changed no matter who was BU coach. SC and UConn already have losses this year. The 40 and 0 seasons are over for everyone. And yes LSU will have losses this season. They are playing weak competition and not crushing it.

I must have missed where someone said LSU would run the table. Seems like a pointless tidbit you just felt had to be added.

In today's environment including CKM unless you think she could have won a title without Angel. Wbb recruiting has changed dramatically since Kim left.

Kim has 4 titles… I'll never get the Kim wouldn't have won a title without… insert player….The LSU team that won a title wasn't that talented aside from Reese. That's coaching

Exactly. Coaching and recruiting those players go hand in hand. No she couldn't have won a championship without Angel in 23, that's literally why they got her there. She didn't just magically appear.

Kim is a fantastic coach, but if you think she would've won that title without the help of NIL, we will just have to disagree. I'm not saying she won't win another either but she has the backing that most Wbb coaches have. Angel was the difference maker on that team although certainly there were other very good players on that team. I just do not believe they would have been good enough to do it without her.

That's where you and I will always differ. You and a handful of others attribute Kim's LSU success to NIL. I attribute it to 20 years of data that support her as literally a top 3 coach of all time. She was always going to win big at LSU and yes Reese helped her.. just like star players help coaches literally yearly.

I literally agree with everything you just posted. I do not think that Kim won only with NIL. That has only been the major driver recently. I do think it was a factor in her being able to turn around LSU so quickly and getting Angel Reese. angel Reis had been forecasted to us and rescheduled to see us immediately after her LSU visit. And Kim was able to put a stop to that and make sure that she never visited. There was definitely financial incentive for that decision. I've said it before, but you can ask Brian Ethridge if you do not believe this. Anyway, I do not have to like her to think she is a great coach. I challenge you to find anything. I have posted that said she was not a good coach. Iloved Kim in the early days and most of her tenure here until she left. I was a fan until she tried to disadvantage our program on the way out the door. If you want to go back and look at my earliest posts, you will see that. Anyway, I'm tired of having this discussion over and over so I'm done. Merry Christmas. We can disagree and I think both of us are fine with that.

By the way, my comment about NIL was in regard to today's WBB recruiting landscape and does not apply to the past.
