I was there also, and I had to look up Mark Campbell's record...Wow! They recruited an absolute winner who is also a tremendous recruiter himself. He will be a star in the Big !2, I'm afraid!

Ya he could be a potential force that will have to be reckoned with in the future. His secret weapon is his brother - he is a big part of Marks success !!

But is he going to be able to get portal additions like he did last year? It all centered around Prince. That is what brought in HVL. There aren't many 7th year seniors out there that are 6'7". I am sure the guy can coach, but can you consistently get those experienced elite players into the Big XII versus the SEC and B1G? And how much does NIL play into it. And the PAC teams are no longer there to get player from as they decayed last year.

You no longer build teams like we grew up on and for myself I have no idea what goes on in the background concerning enticing players to your school. Are we to the point where a particular school hits the jackpot one year with players for one year and the next is a relative desert? Going to be interesting going forward. You could have Houston or Cincinnati or Arizona St. or whoever find a donor that wants to buy a championship. Nothing to stop them now. Bottom line there is no way to predict the future now by looking at what you have today. You don't even know who will be on your roster next year, especially if the bulk of your production is seniors.

You also have the potential for a super coach in the XII to be poached away by the SEC or B1G. It is sad to say, but especially after UT and OU left, the XII is probably the 4th best conference now. The biggest recruits may be looking to either play in the best leagues or receive the biggest NIL checks. That may apply to the coaches as well. Will the most successful coaches want to stay in a league that looks weak compared to others? It is down to that, I am afraid.

I agree - Lots of questions need answers for him to keep the momentum going ?? Future predictions are highly volatile. He had prior relationships with both HVL and Prince - I do not believe he has any more long time relationships in his back pocket. It's going to be an uphill climb for him after Prince, HVL and Conner leave.
NIL is the wild card as TCU proved this year. Tech is trying the same tact in football - we shall see.
Was this a one off for Campbell I think so but again refer to above - NIL is the wild card - Could some TCU Booster fork over some serious cash to have lightning strike twice. ?? Remains to be seen.
If the WNBA poaches 4 big name coaches from the SEC or B!G would they in turn come looking for a "up and commer" ?
Going to be an interesting offseason.

I was at the Tip Off club reception for the seniors after the game last night. Coach Nicki was composed talking about each senior. At the end, she thanked the people there for their support. She got emotional and tearful talking about the crowd last night. She said it is what she has been begging for all year. She also commented something to the effect of as much as she wanted to win a Big XII championship, she also really wanted to win for the people that showed up last night in hopes they would continue to come back and support them again in the future.
I am glad and sad that you reported what you have. There is no question her dedication to her players and what she is trying to bring back for Baylor fans. Most have no inkling of the pit we were thrown into 4 years ago. But she hasn't publicly, to my knowledge used that as an excuse. She has done everything a coach could do to get us to the point where we find ourselves. Losing or winning the game last night should not have an effect on people coming back. But I know that it probably will for too many.

The irony is if they do not come back they are delaying or suppressing the reality of getting what they want (winning and championships) by not showing up in the future. The fans are part of the solution, part of the "team". They always have been. I just wish people would come to see that. I also wish they all could have seen and heard what you heard last night. Thank you for posting it.

Don't forget Campbell will have Scherr next season. Believe she's rehabbing this year. She's an all conference type of guard

That picture will help our recruiting.

You know what else would have helped our recruiting?

Actually winning the game yesterday.

We let a golden opportunity slip through our fingers.

Just hope we don't look back at this game as being the one where the tide turned for our program, and we allowed a team like TCU to gain the upper hand.

Because Mark Campbell looks like he might be a problem moving forward.

If we get Buggs back and make a deep tourney run, yesterday's loss will have very little impact.

If we'd had Buggs, BU very likely would have won. Even without Buggs, if we'd hit some of the missed easies in the first half, we certainly would have improved our chances of getting the win.

The reality is we're not a Final 4 team.

So unless we pull a rabbit out of the hat and we benefit from a massive number of favorites being upset during the 1st week, then our season and future trajectory will likely be based on hardware.

So barring us winning the Conference Tournament this week, we'll be 1 for 8 in the hardware category during Nicki Collen's tenure.

And seeing that this loss likely ended up costing us a chance to host, there's a very real possibility we don't make it past the first weekend.

I sure hope not, because selling those results to top-notch talent might prove to be difficult at that point.
