Her attitude and body language have sucked all year. Not a surprise that it's translated to less playing time and sharp statistical drop off. Maybe Minnesota will be a reset

Embarrassing when a pro team decides to clean house eliminating the team knuckleheads and the first two trades are Baylor WBB alums.

Do you watch WNBA basketball? I ask because you totally misrepresented the situation concerning the Smith and Carrington trades. Dallas is obviously tanking. As for the trades, both Baylor players went to teams that are looking for that one player that can help put them over the hump so they can make a championship run.

I think the real question is do you watch the WNBA? I rarely with ever agree with AP. But he's spot on. Both Smith and Carrington are widely considered team cancers. That's not new news to folks who follow the WNBA. And the Aces are 14-15… in no way were they looking for that missing piece to chase a title

There is a difference between following the WNBA and following social media of the WNBA. I follow the WNBA. I love watching women's basketball. I have followed women's basketball since the mid 80s. My then girlfriend now wife played basketball for Baylor. I learned the women's game from an old school point guard perspective. One of the first things I learned was to stay away from team gossip and mess. If you follow the WNBA social media mess, you think that every team is falling apart.

Also, Las Vegas has a championship pedigree if they make the playoffs they are a contender.

I don't need to watch the WNBA. I got my info from someone with first hand knowledge.

Noteworthy people within that organization view the Smith/Carrington acquisition decisions (designed to jumpstart competitiveness) to be an abject failure. They therefore punted and are starting over.

The word "culture" was used repeatedly.
Cp2310

Yes, culture is important. Culture is also one of those words that's used as a scapegoat to justify changes when you're losing. You ever notice when teams are winning nobody cares about the culture? The problem in Dallas is that Paige Bueckers should have the ball but Arike Ogunbowale always has it. Personally, I think you trade Ogunbowale and keep the Baylor players. That way it's not a total rebuild. But that's just my opinion.

Vegas just suffered the worst home loss in decades. The Aces are the literal definition of pretenders this year. They're a deeply flawed team whose core is declining rapidly.
As far as social media. I have none. I don't follow Twitter or any of that stuff
Cp2310
How long do you want to ignore this user?
lol. I consider sicem 365 a form of social media. Soooo…. But as for the aces, yes they are flawed but once you get in the playoffs, it's anybody's game.
IowaBear

So because you consider a message board social media that automatically makes it a social media platform? Good to know. Will just agree to disagree. As far as Smith and Carrington their actions and words the last 2 years have been rather telling. Your green & gold shades are clouding reality regarding those 2.

Yes, because I'm sure we have different perceptions and biases.

It's probably easier to start with a list of players Carrington hasn't started an on the court confrontation with. Between her dirty fouls and constant altercations she's earned herself quite the reputation. Oh and there's the off the court stuff. Confronting Christine Brennan, mocking Clark, spending every single interview post and pre playing the victim role.
And than theres Smith… whose spent every minute since Indiana drafted Clark pouting about something. The 2 together are incredibly toxic. Stevie Wonder can see that.
Cp2310
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Ok I'm done. lol. You are just Clark lover. First of all, Dawaune Bonner is the one that confronted. Brennan for asking Carrington a loaded question. Second, anyone that says Carrington plays the victim is delusional. I've heard the argument about certain players before. You have a good day.

IowaBear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
If you knew me or followed these boards you'd know I'm actually not a fan or Clark. I respect her game. But I'm not a fan. That's widely known. I think the only person playing the "lover" role here is you my friend. You had first hand knowledge from AP that both are widely considered "knuckleheads" as he used. Denial is rather strong on your end. As far as the Clark v Carrington/Smith debate there is none. Ones a generational player. The other two loaded with envy and lacking in skill

Not sure Dallas is in any position to call out players at this point.

They have mismanaged their personnel for a decade and are an absolute dumpster fire.

Their best team was 2 years ago, and instead of building on that semifinal run, found a way to blow that team up to the point where they ended up with the #1 pick one year later.

Let Odyssey go, traded Kalani, let Sabally walk, let Natasha Howard walk, mismanaged the use of Tiera Mccowan - and that all happened in a little over a year.

Yeah I don't follow the WNBA.. but Dallas from the ownership..to the GM especially...to the coach..is a mess..

Carrington wom Most Improved Player correct?...and is a defensive stopper ...she couldn't help that train wreck..

I'm not sure McCowan has ever been on top of her game in the W. She started with the Fever, and think she languished there until moving to Dallas. She seems to be injured a lot. Kalani backed her up in Dallas, but when she came back from injury, KB was waived. I bet they wish still had her on roster. McCowan was a great college player at Miss State, one of the players Vic groomed from high school. She did a number on us in the NCAA tourney.

Just found out that Dallas waived Mccowan as a condition of the trade (they received 2 players from Minnesota and had to release someone to stay at the 12-player limit).

So outside of Arike, they've basically gutted their semifinal roster from 2 years ago. And Arike might be leaving next, as she is in the final year of her current deal and probably isn't thrilled to see her production dwindle due to all of the catering towards Paige.

The funny thing is that her name was linked to recent trade rumors as the WNBA trade deadline nears. So if Dallas doesn't trade her now, they run the risk of getting nothing for her when she eventually walks after the season.

So at this point - common sense would suggest that you might as well get something for her now before it's too late.

But I just read that they do not intend to trade her, despite interest from several teams.

Given their history, I expect the Wings to botch this opportunity as well, which would just be par for the course.

So yes - I think we can definitely say that Dallas is an absolute mess!

Minnesota has been doing lots of shifting--saw they waived Alissa Pili (Utah) back in July; she's got 7 day contract with LA.

Never count out a veteran team with the heart of a champion. Like I said Vegas was looking for that one player that could help in a championship run. Liss was that person. If Carrington doesn't get hurt Minnesota could have possibly made it to the championship game also. Not bad for a couple of team cancers and knuckleheads.

Smith scored 14 points in four games in Finals. "Help in a championship run"?

She was a rotation player on a team where Wilson, Gray, Young & Lloyd were the primary players.
Smith contributed…….but slightly.

Hyperbole about Baylor former players makes people feel good.
But Griner & Young remain the only two players with WNBA careers that reached beyond role players.
Tough reality but reality.
Cp2310

Lol. You are missing my point. The point was about making a championship run. Liss was what the team needed at the time. Once she got there and got comfortable Las Vegas went on a long winning streak. During that winning streak Liss had some big games. Who cares if she wasn't the star. Same thing for Carrington. She was what her team needed and I truly believe if she doesn't get hurt, they had a shot. Speaking of being a star and carrying a team how about that playoff run Odyssey Sims made. she almost got Indiana to the championship round. But here is the crazy part. She's gonna get cut and have to find a new team next year. Again.

Also, I actually do agree with you on Baylor players, for the most part, only being role players in the wnba. That was one of the issues I had with Kim. Her system was great for college but not for the WNBA. That was one of the reasons why we only got a few of the big name players. I felt like Niki did wonders with Liss in one year. I believe Niki is just as good as Coach as Kim and is better at developing players. Once we get this recruiting thing fixed we will be a great landing spot for players.

You are offering your Opinion as unassailable fact.

Vegas might have easily gotten its act together regardless. No one will ever know.
If Smith was a major statistical contributor your opinion gets more weight.
but her contributions were (statistically) minor. Not opinion, data.

Carrington was the 6th leading scorer during her time in Minnesota averaging 8.5 ppg.
Those numbers are rotational role player level.
Smith was the fifth leading scorer in regular season (8.2 ppg) and sixth leading scorer in playoffs (7.5 ppg).
role player numbers.

Both players were signed by Dallas to be top scoring threats. Both were traded to playoff teams to be role players.

FYI….in Dallas Carrington shot 35% from the field, 26% from 3. Smith shot 42% from the field and 18% from 3.
For big time free agency signings, those numbers are terrible.

They both were deemed failures from production and culture perspectives.
you can argue the culture item but the leaks were consistent.

the stats don't lie…..both players are role players not top scorers. Signing them was a typical Dallas mistake.
Trading them made a ton of sense.
