I agree that Aranda and Collen are not elite coaches. But let's be real, we are not getting an elite coach in either football or Wbb to come to Baylor. We can certainly get good coaches to come but not elite coaches.

So, I guess you are saying that Art Briles and Kim Mulkey weren't elite coaches?

Your very perspicacious question will be very artfully dodged.

I am talking about today, NOT 10 or 15 years ago ! Certainly Briles and Mulkey were both elite coaches! College sports has drastically changed since they were hired.

Do you think we could hire an elite coach in football or Wbb right now??

So Baylor's incapable of hiring good coaches nowadays?? You know it's also possible to hire a good coach who becomes great right?

There will still be elite coaches come about in the future. You just have to identify that potential. Personally I think Molly Miller will become one. Shea Ralph has certainly turned Vanderbilt around. What might happen if she replaces Geno soon?

I said in my initial post that Baylor could get good coaches ! Sure they could become elite. They are not going to be elite coming in and solve all of our problems and get our teams back to championship caliber in a year or so. We need to hire a coach already at the elite level to see significant changes early on. Some posters are wanting quick changes and not sure hiring new coach will provide significant quick changes.

I think seeing program improvement year over year would be considered acceptable compared to the current situation. I also think finding someone hungry to prove themselves could go far. Mulkey wasn't a slam dunk when she was hired. She was hungry (and pissed off at Louisiana Tech). We're about to hit a new generation of coaches as many long time established leaders retire. Best to be on the front end of that generational transition.
