I tried watching our last game today vs OSU. I gave up after they hit a 500 ft home run and we have 1 hit.

So......my fellow baseball ****s, when can we expect to hear our coach's future? Soon? Will it be phased that "Coach Rod has decided to pursue other opportunities"? And if a move is made, how long before a new coach is named?

If our AD cares about the overall program success that I think he does, he has a plan already ready to roll out. In Mack I trust.

It's just as well we went 2 and que in the Big 12 Tourney - why prolong the inevitable(?).

At this point not going a different direction with the HC job will be a sign that MR couldn't care less about our baseball program and is content to be top notch in football and basketball with baseball being whatever it is. I think he cares, however, and I expect to hear about Rod's firing within the next week.

We have an outstanding athletic program. Baseball has gone from a strength to an insignificant, embarrassment. I will be surprised if a change is not made.

I would guess Mitch Thompson would go after the job if given the chance to apply and interview.

I see Mitch's brother Nate Thompson also being a potential candidate (He has been the lead recruiter for Arkansas the last 5 or so years.

And as odd as this sounds I bet if allowed to, Coach Steve Smith would apply. (I don't think Rhoades would go that route). I just think Smith still wants to be at Baylor.

However if I had to bet, Rhoades has already begun contacting his list of candidates which none of us know.

I'd expect it to be soon if he is goi g to be let go. No reason to prolong it. Not sure if he is allowed to do exit interviews if he will be gone. The players are no longer his if he will be gone.

I know we haven't had to do this in a while as far as letting a coach go..but can y'all vultures at least let him get back on the bus back home ..see his family..get a good night's sleep and go from there?

There should be a press release tomorrow thanking Coach Rod for his hard work at Baylor and saying that he and the school have mutually agreed to move in different directions. Baylor wishes him well in his future endeavors.

I do think it matters a lot if, in fact Mack decides to make a change, it happens on July 4th. If it is going to happen it should be sooner rather than later.

Hire Nate Thompson. He will then hire his brother Mitch Thompson to be the lead recruiter. That way you get your young up and coming head coach who has SEC recruiting ties, with a seasoned Texas recruiter in Mitch.

Is he the kid that was in DC in the Fall and then had a spot on the 35 man roster in the Spring? If so, that is a terrible look. Any player who doesn't go through the 5:00am workouts in the Fall and all of the practices does not deserve to have a roster spot. You should have to earn a roster sport each year unless injured. That will cause clubhouse division.

Definitely not a good look.

I'm not sure that a walk on who got very little playing time who studied in DC about spreading religious freedom across the world taking a roster spot caused any division nor contributed to our record this year.

Judging from the team's season, their may have been several that didn't deserve a roster spot.

His son was in DC in the fall. I forgot that.

Did Nolan Rodriguez take playing time away from someone I'm not aware of? If he had a starting spot or primary utility role..then maybe..

He had neither.

This is no different than Coach K's grandson being a walk on at Duke.

With the pitching staff injuries Steve may get another year. Not what I would like to see, but that may be a consideration. Just like Mississippi State who won it all last year, had pitching injuries and didn't even make the Tournament this year.
