Man, I can't recall a time when there's been so few teams in a pennant race in the 2 wild card era as there in this year's American League.

No team is closer than 5 games from breaking into the Houston-Boston-Yankees-Indians-Mariners party, and the only team closer than 6 games is the 29-34 Minnesota Twins, who are 5 games back in the pitiful AL Central.

The team hosting the AL Wild Card game this year may be a 100-win team. The top 4 AL teams would all be well out in front of every NL team.

MLB Standings

I'll believe it when I see it from Los Marineros.

I think we are about to go on a run for the ages.

I'll always have a soft spot for the As.

Wasn't too long ago teams used to come into the Juice Box and sodomize us. I was there for a 16-0 loss at the hands of the Red Sox in like 2013.

But yes, hotter than the handles on the gates of hell.

Breaking news on Gattis

He doesn't actually have a human heart, it's a V8 engine.

Loving this winning streak. And Gattis is destroying baseballs like they owe him money. According to the Astros Facebook page he also became the first Astros player in franchise history to have back to back 5 RBI games. Go 'Stros!

Also the first player since the 70s to do so without batting gloves.

Like I said, masculine man. Brute dude.

Idk who's hotter in baseball right now: Muncy or Gattis.

They're only "hot" cause the long ball gets so much attention. Yuli, for example has been on base a ton and his avg is about to cross .300, yet he's only got a couple jonrones.

Muncy has been raking like a savage though, no doubt.

They're pretty much hot in their own respect.

Gattis: 11 RBI's in the last 3 games. 9 HR, 28 RBI's, .297 AVG, 1.056 OPS in the last month.

Yuli: .354 AVG, .360 OBP in the last month. These numbers are better during the last two weeks (jeez).

And Yuli's back at it this afternoon. Astros already up 2-1 after 2 innings.

What we have here is a volcanic eruption of run support. We really might not lose till after the break.

Side note, have we seen a team since the 98 Marlins go from champs to chumps so quick? Royals are struggling mightily. 04 DBacks come to mind.

And the Astros bust out the brooms against the Royals! Solid outing by McCullers Jr., good pitching from the pen and timely hitting to get the win. Best play of the game was Marwin throwing out Mustokas at the plate. Astros are hotter than the Kansas City weather.

It's time to start spanking folks at the Juice Box

I didn't want to put it on wax earlier, but I will now.

This team can make it back to the World Series.

I won't predict another title just yet, but we should be disappointed with anything less than an ALCS.

There.

By the way, our bullpen hasn't coughed up a run in 19 innings....

Astros, Red Sox, Yankees, Mariners. Two of those will be in the ALCS, and I like the Astros chances.

Yesssss! I have him on my fantasy team. I like his stuff. Could finally have a dominant lefty in the pen, even though Sipp is actually having a good year.
