Michelle Lenard was officially introduced today as the new head coach of Baylor Soccer today. Watch the full press conference with Mack Rhoades and Lenard above.

Highlights:

Lenard likes to play with an aggressive possesion and pressing style. This approach is more on the front foot than Paul Jobson’s but the defensive backbone that the team has already should be very usefull in transitioning into coach Lenard’s tactics.

Lenard is looking to add to the incoming class of players both from high school and possibly from the transfer portal.

Her staff is not complete yet, but she will be looking to complete it soon so after the holiday recruiting dead period is over, the new staff can hit the ground running.

Lenard’s faith and family, plus the culture of faith, family, futbol that is already establish and flourishing were important to her decision to leave the home she had for the last 14 years.

She believes that Baylor can and should compete for championships given the location, talent, and facilities that are available here.

Lenard singled out Maddie Algya, Taylor Moon, and Mackenzie Anthony as key players that can play big roles in her system next year.

She was clear that the current roster has great talent and can succeed in her system, but she will always be looking to bring in players that can buy into the culture and help the team.

Have you watched DBU play? Does the new coach value possession soccer? BU has recruited DFW heavily in the recent past & I've watched the area club teams play D1 & ECL. Most of these clubs play possession soccer which surprised me with BU's style of kick & chase. With Texas being such a strong soccer state, I know that BU can do much better than be a middle of the table team.
