The Bounds vote was a pretty serious infraction. The article shows NR, a moderate GOP publication with a strong neverTrump bias, sharply criticizing Scott for buckling to progressive sensibilities. I agree with their argument. He failed to stand up for a conservative who made a mainstream defense of tolerance and free speech. In the current context, that is almost unforgivable, as it is what we need most -- an ardent champion for classical liberalism as the bulwark against progressive intolerance.

I like Tim Scott, a lot, but his talents are not right for this cycle. The time for conciliation is after the victory is won.

When attacked by progressive memes, moderate GOP always defers battle and refuses the flank If that's the only play you have, you just end up going in circles. Scott is a man for a time of peace and prosperity, not the battle ahead.

He in fact sank two Federal Judge candidates based on spurious charges of "muh racism". Its obvious that he is extremely sensitive to such things and is quick to listen to and take the progressive side on such issues.

Also, he is pro-mass migration from the 3d world. Something that no true conservative can be fore.

[Tim Scott said that "the problems within our legal immigration system isn't the number" and that mass immigration is needed to fill the "largest holes in our economy".]

This is a very very pro-Big business stance.

In fact we already let in 1,000,000 legal immigrants a year and millions more illegally.

Do say that we need millions of people is simply not true.

Think he means we need immigration policy that fits skills needs. we have bigger needs in skilled labor than unskilled labor, yet it is the latter walking across the border by the millions.

Sorry but Pence is delusional if he thinks there is any great number of people hoping for him to lead our nation.

A good, decent man, yes, but with the battle skills of Dan Quayle and the executive competency of Jimmy Carter.

Mike Penace was an effective and popular govenor of Indiana .

Showed plenty of 'battle skills' standing up to Trumps stupid demands after the 2020 election was lost.

However I do agree Mike Penace would be unlikely to win in the 2024 general election.

People really do not understand what is required of a President.

From Carter to Ford to Taft to Truman, a great many good men have been able to attain the office, only to find they were not up to the challenge of it.

If anyone considers Trump, Biden or Obama 'alpha politicians' they are sadly mistaken.

They were all opportunists.

The last true 'alpha politician' was Bill Clinton.

Mike Pence would make an excellent president. Unfortunately for the country he will never get the opportunity.

Will Trump pass on debates?

The Republican National Committee will require presidential candidates to attract 40,000 individual campaign donors and the support of at least 1 percent of voters in multiple national polls to qualify for the first debate with Fox News in Milwaukee this August, according to four people briefed on the plans.

The filter, which also requires candidates to pledge support for the party's eventual nominee,...

Trump, as the polling leader, has suggested he may skip the early Republican debates. He has also said he will not pledge to support the eventual nominee no matter who the party selects. His team has been in negotiations with the party over debates, The Washington Post has reported.

I don't think Kennedy can win the Dem nomination. If he can be persuaded to run 3rd party, he will doom Democrat chances.
