The Bounds vote was a pretty serious infraction. The article shows NR, a moderate GOP publication with a strong neverTrump bias, sharply criticizing Scott for buckling to progressive sensibilities. I agree with their argument. He failed to stand up for a conservative who made a mainstream defense of tolerance and free speech. In the current context, that is almost unforgivable, as it is what we need most -- an ardent champion for classical liberalism as the bulwark against progressive intolerance.
I like Tim Scott, a lot, but his talents are not right for this cycle. The time for conciliation is after the victory is won.
When attacked by progressive memes, moderate GOP always defers battle and refuses the flank If that's the only play you have, you just end up going in circles. Scott is a man for a time of peace and prosperity, not the battle ahead.
He in fact sank two Federal Judge candidates based on spurious charges of "muh racism". Its obvious that he is extremely sensitive to such things and is quick to listen to and take the progressive side on such issues.
Also, he is pro-mass migration from the 3d world. Something that no true conservative can be fore.
[Tim Scott said that "the problems within our legal immigration system isn't the number" and that mass immigration is needed to fill the "largest holes in our economy".]
This is a very very pro-Big business stance.
In fact we already let in 1,000,000 legal immigrants a year and millions more illegally.
Do say that we need millions of people is simply not true.
