That is a great point. We may not have gotten there. Would Obama have beaten Hillary in 2016 if Romney was successful? Would Jeb Bush have then been set up for the 2016 run?

Your whole argument supports not alienating and creating this dynamic of one has to be destroyed for the other to survive. We are not talking a balance between Hitler's Fascism and Lenin's Communism. We used to be able to work together even when we disagreed. Even Newt Gingrich, the father of Modern Conservatism with the Contract with America, and Bill Clinton were able to get along and work together. Reagan and Tip O'Neil.
