Here, however, we have a known hacker group claiming responsibility v. Elon's claim without any evidence.

You are not understanding. An IP address is designated to a network at an address at any given time. It can only be where it is. These addresses are assigned to the network by an ISP. Its rather easy to track these down. That is what Elon said. The IP addresses were in the Ukraine. Technically, IP addresses are assigned through a hierarchical system managed by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) and Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), with ISPs then assigning addresses to their customers using methods like Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).

IPs are like parking spots at Walmart. Just because someone parked there at one time doesn't mean they had anything to do with it.

This may be surprising to you but DDOS attacks don't happen from your home computer assigned by Google Fiber. Most are from bot networks (lots of people spread around with malware)

This is like saying your clothing is assigned by God. Also, most IPs have absolutely nothing to do with IANA or DHCP.
Have you ever setup a Server? If so, you know that you contact an ISP, who gets their IPs from IANA. You get the IPs, then you setup your network and assign individual IPs unless you are running a dynamic setup. You might use static IPs if you are using VOIP and PCs at the same time.

ISPs obtain IP addresses from the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) and the Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), which manage the IP address space and allocate blocks of addresses to ISPs.
You can get a whole block of IPs from AWS in 5 minutes right now that was owned by someone in India 5 minutes ago. You have no idea what you are talking about
Remember what Elon said, he tracked the IPs to the Ukraine, that's all. That is where the IPs were located that were the hackers. Doesnt mean that they were physically in the Ukraine. If you get a block from AWS that was owned by someone in India, that can be traced back to India, IF that is where the ISP was that the IANA assigned them to. There is always a trail.


Definitely not chiming in on the tech, but Elon said "Ukraine area," and his own employees called him out even for that.

I think you can trust what he's actually said, which is that Russia will agree to a ceasefire if Ukraine withdraws from all annexed territory and agrees not to join NATO. Don't be surprised if Putin counters the US offer with a few minor concessions to sweeten the deal, but don't expect him to depart from his core demands either.

However the man has created thousands of jobs for Americans and now is discovering trillions of dollars worth of graft , fraud and waste in the federal bureaucracy.

I appreciate every thing he has done.
