His bigotry towards the LGBTQ -- In 2019, the Trump Administration dramatically expanded upon the discriminatory policies implemented in 20171 and 20182 that are harming the health and well-being of LGBTQIA+ people in America and around the world. It rolled back sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) nondiscrimination provisions in health care, employment, and housing, and expanded discriminatory religious refusal policies. It appointed more anti-LGBT federal court judges and further attempted to roll back the collection of sexual orientation and gender identity data that is critical to understanding LGBT health disparities. It also enacted anti-immigration policies that advocates say directly contributed to the deaths of two transgender women seeking asylum3,4 and are also disproportionately affecting LGBT asylum seekers, generally.5 The Trump Administration did take some positive actions in its third year in office. It launched the Ending the HIV Epidemic Initiative, an ambitious campaign to end the domestic HIV epidemic. It also launched a global campaign, which President Trump spoke about before the United Nations in September,6 to advocate for the repeal of 70 laws in other countries that criminalize same-sex sexual behavior. However, ongoing anti-LGBT policies by the Trump Administration threaten to undermine progress made by the Ending the HIV Epidemic Initiative,7 and global LGBT advocates claim that there is no substance to the decriminalization effort.8 They also point to other anti-LGBT actions taken by the U.S. State Department and by the Trump Administration. Agreed. It's more the usualy projection and hypocrisy of the regressive world view - everything must be held in isolation but nothing fits together logically:muddybrazos said:He's not really wrong. Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

There is certainly a lot of unwarranted outrage over ads like this. Personally it's a little disgusting, it bewilders me, and I will probably avoid Calvin Klein products from now on, but some of you take it far beyond that. I also think this woman mutilated her body, but I can't be certain that he/she/they isn't happy. This is adults exercising freedoms. Not an opportunity to trash people.
It is easy for disgust to turn into hate, and that leads to problems. It sort of justifies the trans lifestyle in these people's minds. In some weird way. I think it's good to talk of the harm mutilating one's body can bring, but we can do that while still respecting these human beings. Someone trying to change genders doesn't need hate, they need help.
The standard for acceptable protest/boycott actions is up to and including what you would do but not beyond. Got it.

I just hold the above opinion, that the extreme outrage and hate are unwarranted and bad. Is it ok for me to have this opinion, or maybe does my opinion hurt you in some way?
This is a very thoughtful response. I think the Scripture argument is much easier ... maybe 20 years ago or so the trend was "Red Letter Christians" among regressive Christians. They generally focused exclusively on Jesus' teachings and the Sermon on the Mount always with a contemporary "social justice" spin.Porteroso said:Waco1947 said:Scripture is not science or modern understandings of sexuality. I'm not about to argue, but ill just tell you this is wrong. This is at best a surface understanding, though the truth on some of these issues is explicit.
You probably believe you are a progressive Christian, so let me enlighten you on the progressive take. These behaviors that were sinful at one point, a progressive would say, did have a purpose, but when you really understand the purpose of the law, that purpose is not so God can send people to hell, but to protect humanity. From this standpoint it is easy to see why ar one point spilling your seed on the ground was wrong. Israel would have been wiped out, and nearly was, many times. This I think is why homosexuality was wrong.
Or pork. It was unclean and unsafe. Even strict gender roles. Is it really that God wanted a woman who had something to say in church about the Bible, to be sinning? Or maybe did strict gender roles and hierarchy organize Israel in a way that allowed its culture and people to stay strong through millenia?
We can go down this road as far as you want to go, and by the way this is how you explain sin away whenever you want. It helps to have a more intellectual approach than "scripture is not science."
You gave us the standard for "unwarranted outrage." It is anything above and beyond what you deem appropriate. We should be thanking you.Porteroso said:LIB,MR BEARS said:Porteroso said:

I just hold the above opinion, that the extreme outrage and hate are unwarranted and bad. Is it ok for me to have this opinion, or maybe does my opinion hurt you in some way?
1. What is the defintion of "extreme outrage?" For example, I would easily define "extreme outrage" as the burning, looting, and murdering of 2020 - $4B and at least 14 murders in response to disinformation felt "extreme." Are all boycotts "extreme?" What makes a boycott "extreme?" I feel like wanting to groom and sexualize children is "extreme" and opposing it is a logical and moral response to protest conversastion therapy and pedophilia.
2. What is the defintion of "hate?" Do you have an example of hate directed at a trans person / community related to politics? For example, I would define the trans group that mocks Chritianity, Jesus, and Catholicism as an anti-Christian hate group (the group that was invited to the Dodgers gay celebration). Do you have similar examples of mainstream organizations celebrating groups that similar mock gays?
