[Who Was Meir Kahane, and Why Is His Racist Legacy Relevant Again

Brooklyn-born Meir Kahane was banned from Israeli politics in 1988, but the spirit of his anti-Arab Kach party lives on in an extremist alliance that just won six Knesset]

Hamas lit this fuse. Over 800 dead in an unprovoked attack. Hope Israel releases their full fury on Hamas and they cease to exist.

Israel does not need our help. We just need to stay the Hell out of their way.
Whilst this latest event is inexcusable and deplorable, Israel is absolutely not blameless in this whole sorry affair (referring to the general state of Israel-Palestinian relations, not this specific incident)
Of course, but there are degrees of blame. I put it at 85% Palestinians and Arabs in general; 15% Israel.

Those are pretty extreme numbers when you consider that only one side is actively occupying the land of the other side
How does one occupy its own country?

When did Gaza and the West Bank become a legal part of Israel?

Israel has the right man in charge if the goal is the elimination of the Hamas. The Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, was in charge of the IDF during Operation Cast Lead. He was close to "breaking the neck" of Hamas then, but the politicians would not let him. Now, he is the political establishment.

[Gaza was a recognized part of the Ottoman Empire before it was occupied by the United Kingdom (1918-1848), Egypt (1948-1967), and then occupied by Israel in 1967, which in 1993 granted the Palestinian Authority in Gaza limited self-governance through the Oslo Accords. Since 2007, the Gaza Strip has been de facto governed by Hamas, which claims to represent the State of Palestine

The United Nations, international human rights organizations, and the majority of governments and legal commentators still consider the territory to be occupied by Israel despite the 2005 Israeli disengagement from Gaza. Israel maintains direct external control over Gaza and indirect control over life within Gaza]

Doesn't look like the Kingdom of Transjordan ever ceded Gaza to Israel.

Ottoman Empire was the last recognized sovereign of the territory. And the UK the last power with a legal mandate to govern it as a guardian

Hamas threatening to execute hostages which would only escalate Israel's decimation on Gaza.

Hamas has a proven track record of making incredibility dumb and evil decisions that bring the full might of the Israeli military machine down on the Palestinian population.

The spokesman for Hamas's military wing, Abu Obeida, has threatened to execute a civilian hostage every time an airstrike hits "Gazans in their homes without warning." Hamas is believed to be holding about 150 Israelis hostage.

Note the use of the word "regrettably"
"From this moment on, we announce that every targeting of our people who are safe in their houses, without prior warning, we will regrettably meet with the execution of one of the enemy's civilian hostages that we have," Abu Obaida said in a message broadcast on Al Jazeera.
Ane every execution of a civilian will be met by Israel with 50 missiles into Gaza....hows that gonna turn out ?

Of course, but there are degrees of blame. I put it at 85% Palestinians and Arabs in general; 15% Israel.

Those are pretty extreme numbers when you consider that only one side is actively occupying the land of the other side
How does one occupy its own country?

When did Gaza and the West Bank become a legal part of Israel?

This question is a joke, right?

Do you understand how wars work?

Israel was attacked by Jordan, Egypt and others. They pushed them back, and took the lands from which the attacks originated. In fact, Israel took the entire Sinai Peninsula. They later negotiated a peace treaty with Egypt, in which Egypt agreed to officially recognize Israel and Israel agreed to give back the Sinai. The thing is that everyone on the planet agreed that Israel had a legal right to keep the Sinai, but they gave it back in exchange for peace.

This is also true for the West Bank and Gaza. I visited Israel in the 1980s. All of that land was Israel. There was no "Palestine". There were no check points. It was very peaceful, even though the terrorist PLO groups were always trying to kill children and bomb buses. It was common to see school children out on field trips, and their teachers were always carrying an Uzi over their shoulder. They were required to do this because the muslims loved to target and kill Israeli children.

You really need to read some history on the topic. Israel took the West Bank in much the same way that the USA took Arizona, New Mexico, California, etc. War has consequences. Mexico took the FAFO route, and so did the Arabs.

Do yourself a favor and educate yourself just a little bit.

Hamas (besides in large part being a creation of Israel) came to power not to kill all the Jews but because it offered social services and promise of jobs and a better life to the people in the open air prison that is Gaza.

[Hamas organised clinics and schools, which served Palestinians who felt let down by the corrupt and inefficient Palestinian Authority, dominated by the Fatah faction.

When Hamas scored a landslide victory in Palestinian parliamentary elections in 2006, the stage was set for a bitter power-struggle with Fatah.]

[In 2017, Hamas produced a new policy document that softened some of its stated positions and used more measured language.
There was no recognition of Israel, but it did formally accept the creation of an interim Palestinian state in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem - what are known as pre-1967 lines.]

They didn't say "elect us and we will get you all killed in a war with the Israeli military"

Of course it's a terrorist organization (technically a political party with an armed terrorist wing).

But it did not emerge from the void. It was created because of conditions in Gaza (70 years of brutal and racist military occupation) and on the promise of some kind of change for the Palestinian people. That is why it won their support…not just promising holy war.

They are now leading the Palestinian people into disaster…that is obvious enough…but it's important to know the whole story.

again, you are just cherry picking parts of my statement so you can have your little fake outrage. I specifically said I was referring to the state of relations between Palestinians and Israel, not this terrorist attack. I've even taken the Liberty of bolding it for you.

Terrorism is never the answer and Innocent Peoples lives should never be taken, but yes, Israel has been treating Palestinians like Second Class citizens, have you not seen the stories about Palestinian Children being shot? last year, at least 34 Palestinian Children were killed by Israeli Defence Forces, now im sure it will be pointed out that some of those were engaging in Violent acts protesting against IDF, and thats accurate, but since when is shooting Children in the Chest (with no warning fire or even resorting to less than lethal measures, such as rubber bullets) the correct response to Stones being thrown at Armoured vehicles? Or the Killing of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh last year, which on the balance of probabilities, was probably a targeted killing but the Israelis refuse to let anyone else investigate it without their oversight.

So no, this incident was not "Unprovoked", again, that does not justify it nor do I condone or defend it in any way, shape or form, loss of innocent life is reprehensible and Hamas and any who support it should be be treated like the terrorists they are, but if you cant see that this was not an unprovoked attack, then you are just being blind.

Yes, Israel supported the original group (not named Hamas at the time), because they thought it would fight and help them with the more secular PLO terrorist group. That was in the early 80s.

Then the group grew and eventually created the Hamas organization and the Hamas charter. Go read the charter for yourself you idiot. It is clear as day. Everyone on the planet has acknowledged that the Hamas charter calls for the genocide of the Jews.

God you are such a fool. It is hard to imagine that anyone can be as stupid as you are.

Hamas has been recognized by America and most of the nations of the world as a terrorist organization, since the mid 1990s. This is a fact, that is not disputed by anyone.. except for morons like you.

Israel does not need our help. We just need to stay the Hell out of their way.
Whilst this latest event is inexcusable and deplorable, Israel is absolutely not blameless in this whole sorry affair (referring to the general state of Israel-Palestinian relations, not this specific incident)
The English guy swoops in and defends terrorism. I am shocked I tell ya! SHOCKED!!!!

Are you and Redbrickbear drinking buddies?

You said "Israel is absolutely not blameless in this whole sorry affair."

Yes, they are. This attack and slaughter of more than 800 Israelis was unprovoked. You are victim blaming and it is downright disgusting. You said it. Don't say stupid **** if you don't mean it.

Would be kinda like me trying to justify murdering a Japanese family in 2023 because I was pissed about what their relatives did at Pearl Harbor in 1941. Absolutely ridiculous!
again, you are just cherry picking parts of my statement so you can have your little fake outrage.

Yea, it's a radical Islamist party (with an armed wing) that broke off from the MB (with Israeli support)

Did you expect it to say nice things?

[Hamas's charter defines historic Palestine - as Islamic land and it rules out any permanent peace with what it terms a terrorist state (Israel)

The document also repeatedly makes attacks on Jewish "power", drawing charges that the movement is anti-Semitic.

In 2017, Hamas produced a new policy document that softened some of its stated positions and used more measured language.

There was still no recognition of Israel, but it did formally accept the creation of an interim Palestinian state in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem - what are known as pre-1967 lines.

The document also stresses that Hamas's struggle is not with Jews but with "occupying Zionist aggressors". Israel said the group was "attempting to fool the world".]

It's interesting that you use the Cherokee…a very advanced tribe, with a written constitution, mostly friendly relations with Whites (at least after 1800), lived in permanent villages and had begun to adopt cultural and technological practices of the southern White settlers. They also developed their own writing system and even a cash crop slave economy….and not say the raiding comanche.

Simply pointing out that having a negative view toward Israel as a "Zionist terrorist state" is not surprising for them or anyone else over there.

Of course, but there are degrees of blame. I put it at 85% Palestinians and Arabs in general; 15% Israel.

Those are pretty extreme numbers when you consider that only one side is actively occupying the land of the other side

You have a tendency to forget the initial act of aggression. First, Russia invading Ukraine. Now, the Arabs attacking Israel and losing that land. There is no occupying force. Israel didn't invade they were attacked.

Oh please.

In this case (70 years of occupation and brutalization by a more powerful State) the Palestinians are much closer to the Ukrainians in such an example.

And the Israelis more similar to the Russians in their occupation of Donbas/Crimea.
