The spokesman for Hamas's military wing, Abu Obeida, has threatened to execute a civilian hostage every time an airstrike hits "Gazans in their homes without warning." Hamas is believed to be holding about 150 Israelis hostage.

Note the use of the word "regrettably"
"From this moment on, we announce that every targeting of our people who are safe in their houses, without prior warning, we will regrettably meet with the execution of one of the enemy's civilian hostages that we have," Abu Obaida said in a message broadcast on Al Jazeera.

Ane every execution of a civilian will be met by Israel with 50 missiles into Gaza....hows that gonna turn out ?

'The Apartheid Regime Is the Only One to Blame': Harvard Students Hold Israel Responsible for Hamas Terrorism

In response to the barbaric Hamas attack on Israel over the weekend, 31 Harvard University student organizations signed a statement blaming the Jewish state for the murders, abductions, mass rapes, and terroristic atrocities it has experienced over the past few days.

The groups, which include those with such disparate purposes as the Harvard Middle Eastern and North African Law Student Association, the Harvard Kennedy School's Palestine Caucus, and Harvard South Asians for Forward-Thinking Advocacy and Research, joined a letter calling on "the Harvard community to take action to stop the ongoing annihilation of Palestinians."

The statement is clear in its finding of fault, saying the "apartheid regime is the only one to blame." It goes on to accuse Israel of forcing Palestinians "to live in a state of death, both slow and sudden," saying that "for the last two decades, millions of Palestinians in Gaza have been forced to live in an open-air prison" and that "massacres in Gaza have already commenced."

Nowhere in the statement do these organizations address the actions of Hamas, though they do "hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence."

Since the letter's publication, a large number of commentators and public officials have condemned the Harvard organizations' posture. Ian Bremmer, president and founder of the geopolitical risk consultancy firm Eurasia Group and a foreign-affairs writer, said he "can't imagine who would want to identify with such a group." Princeton University professor Robert P. George posted on X (formerly Twitter) that "something is deeply, deeply wrong in academia."

Organizations that signed the letter include the African American Resistance Organization, Amnesty International at Harvard, and the Harvard Islamic Society.

Former Harvard University president Lawrence Summers posted a threadon X Monday afternoon in which he said that, in his 50 years of affiliation with the university, he has "never been as disillusioned and alienated" as he is today, given that Harvard has yet to disavow the student organizations' words, allowing itself to be "defined by the morally unconscionable statement . . . blaming all the violence on Israel."

"I cannot fathom the Administration's failure to disassociate the University and condemn this statement," Summers wrote.

Didn't turn out well for ISIS. Worst things these groups can do is think they are grown up militaries. They have no idea. Being an expert on guerilla hit and run is a much different world than when they decide to get serious a break out real mech infantry and air power.

Not sure if the Merkava's will be handy in Gaza, can control crossings and intersections, but armor in urban densities like that will be tough. If anyone knows how to use them for an advantage, it is the IDF.

I think this will give Israel to take Gaza and consolidate more into Israel. It will be in or out, but under more Israeli control.

God no, no one said kill them all! Hamas, I believe no quarter will be given.

I believe the vast majority will stay, but they have to be more Nation of Israel than Palestine. If they don't want too be in the Nation of Israel they will go. But, there will be a military presence that will not allow Hamas to gain a foothold. That is my view. Which is worth about zero...

Hamas lit this fuse. Over 800 dead in an unprovoked attack. Hope Israel releases their full fury on Hamas and they cease to exist.

Israel does not need our help. We just need to stay the Hell out of their way.
Whilst this latest event is inexcusable and deplorable, Israel is absolutely not blameless in this whole sorry affair (referring to the general state of Israel-Palestinian relations, not this specific incident)
Of course, but there are degrees of blame. I put it at 85% Palestinians and Arabs in general; 15% Israel.

Those are pretty extreme numbers when you consider that only one side is actively occupying the land of the other side
Both sides have blood on their hands, but the problem is, as you acknowledged above, Hamas has a proven track record of making incredibility dumb and evil decisions that bring the full might of the Israeli military machine down on the Palestinian population. And the Israelis have long used that as an excuse to justify their occupation of the lands at issue.

It was the Palestinian blood lust that began this quagmire. If they would turn from Hamas, and pursue a peaceful path, it is possible Israel might do the same (though the damage may already been unrepairable).

No don't disagree with your over all statement....but leaving out the fact that Israel helped create Hamas...its asking a lot of people to live like saints under a hostile and racist military occupation.

Obviously non-violent resistance is really the only way forward for the Palestinians...they can't beat a nuclear armed Nation-State like Israel who out matches them in every possible way through violence....but its hard to be a saint in the middle of Hell.

Certainly,

I don't think I have ever claimed on here that one side exclusively owns this land.

(Even just 100 years ago neither of these people groups owned the land...the Ottoman Turks did)

I think there are some other people on this form under the impression that God exclusively wants one of these tribes to own all the land.

I don't remember the English be particularly found of terrorism (you ever heard of the IRA?)

Besides the guttural xenophobia for the English...what is exactly is your point?

That Israel has clean hands in all of this?

If nothing else....Israel having helped to create Hamas in the first place has got to count for something

Well, only one side (Israel) abided by the initial boundaries; only one side invaded and declared war against the other (twice) before there were settlements or "occupations" (not Israel); only one elects as its representative an organization that publicly endorses terrorism and the destruction of Israel (not Israel); only one raises up as martyrs their terrorists (not Israel); only one routinely and indiscriminately murders women and children and other innocents not even arguably as collateral damage (not Israel); and only one partners with a country that advocates for the destruction of Israel (not Israel).

Yes, I'd say 85% easy.

On multiple occasions, Israel put offers on the table. Palestinians said "no" every time. Arabs attacked Israel multiple times. They lost the wars and lost more land. They can't turn down every offer, demand that Israel cease to exist, declare multiple wars against Israel, and then complain that Israel won't give them land from which to invade.

Details of one generous offer:
Israel PM Ehud Olmert presented a comprehensive plan for peace on September 16, 2008. The main elements of Olmert's proposal were the following: Israel would cede almost 94% of the West Bank for the establishment of a Palestinian state. Israel would retain approximately 6.4% of the West Bank.

"I did not agree," Abbas once told Israel's Channel 10. "I rejected it out of hand." Olmert said he had offered a near-total withdrawal from the West Bank, proposing that Israel retain 6.3% of the territo

The Hamas charter states that "our struggle against the Jews is very great and very serious" and calls for the eventual creation of an Islamic state in Palestine, in place of Israel and the Palestinian Territories,[3] and the obliteration or dissolution of Israel.
