Starting three wars and multiple intifadas . . . Not tit for tat.

Obviously the Palestinians would view a 60 year occupation of the West Bank...their country (and Gaza until 2005) as a provocation and illegal act.

[Israel's occupation is illegal and indistinguishable from a "settler-colonial" situation, which must end, as a pre-condition for Palestinians to exercise their right to self-determination, the UN's independent expert on the occupied Palestinian territory said on Thursday.]

Again, in response to all out invasions, attacks, and/or provocations.

Israel's war in 1967 was against Jordan (and some other Arab states)

Its been at peace with Jordan and Egypt now for decades.

So why is Israel still militarily occupying the West Bank and keeping millions of Palestinians under bayonet rule?

With all the excuses you make for the occupation (some valid for why it took place) you still have not come out and said when Israel should be taking their army home....

[JERUSALEM
Under a torrent of criticism from his right-wing party, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon uttered words Monday that few fellow Israelis ever expected to hear from the battle-hardened political hawk: The nation must end its occupation of Palestinian lands.
"It is not possible to continue holding 3 1/2 million people under occupation," Sharon told an assembly of enraged lawmakers from his Likud Party. "You may not like the word, but what's happening is occupation. This is a terrible thing for Israel, for the Palestinians and for the Israeli economy."
The foray into peace rhetoric came one day after Sharon coaxed the Israeli Cabinet to endorse a U.S.-backed peace plan calling for the creation of a Palestinian state.]

Easy, obvious answer = because those Palestinians will not elect a government that will recognize the right of Israel to exist, and live in pace beside the Jews.

It really is that simple. The moment Palestinians decide to live in peace with Israel, all the fighting stops.

Israel gave Gaza self-determination, without forcing them to recognize Israel's right to exist. And what did Israel get? Missile attacks every day, followed by Oct7.

Given what happened on Oct 7th, there's little chance Israel will give up control over the West Bank. What is most logical for them is to proceed with settlements and get a final solution with superior demographics.

again, all that is CAUSED by Palestinian refusal to recognize Israel's right to exist and starting wars to end Israel.

If they keep starting and losing wars, they SHOULD lose more and more territory.

Other Arab states started those war.

And the 6 day war was started by Israel!

[The war began on June 5 with Israeli preemptive air strikes that destroyed 286 of Egypt's 420 combat aircraft. Israeli tanks surged across the Sinai, and its troops took over the Egypt-occupied Gaza Strip.]

https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/hijacked-wars-threats-responses/#:~:text=The%20war%20began%20on%20June,the%20Egypt%2Doccupied%20Gaza%20Strip.

But the past is the past.

When is Israel going to take its army home?
LOL the self-serving pro-Arab propaganda really has warped your brain. Not the word "pre-emptive" in your bolded comment above. Yes, Israel initiated hostilities in the 6-Day War....because there were Armies of several Arab nations mobilized and prepared to strike. Israel did not invade and force others to mobilize to push them back. They struck preemptively to destroy/interdict formations preparing to attack Israel. No serious historical source disputes that as fact.....

The answer to your last question is simple: when the Palestinians lay down their arms and agree to live in peace beside the Jewish State.

for a very long time. The Israelis are steadily strengthening their hand. The longer it goes on, the worse it gets for the Palestinians.

Just curious. Why do Palestinians need a state? Why can't they live in a greater Israel? Or Jordan or Egypt?

Why do Jews need a State in the area? Can't they live in the USA or Poland? Well they live there and it's their home.

Same goes for the Palestinians…it's their home. Many descend from people who have been there since the time of the Romans.

Why would they want to leave their homes?

Plus you would have to engage in some kind of large scale ethnic cleansing to get them to leave in mass.

Though of course some Israeli politicians have floated the idea of expelling them by force to Europe. (Notice not to the rest of the Middle East)

given what Gaza did, why shouldn't Israel consider doing that?

Israel was not occupying Gaza. Gaza was a self-governing entity. And yet, Gaza chose to launch a futile terrorist attack that killed a four-digit number of Israelis. And they did it solely because their religious beliefs make them unwilling to let Israel exist in peace.

We should not have any sympathy at all for Gaza. They are getting what they deserve.

Come on, they keep attacking. You keep leaving that out of your "bayonet rule". Israel has a plan, they are settling the conquered territories like every winner has for centuries. They are building a society Kuputz, by Kuputz. That doesn't go with your desire to paint Israel as the aggressor, so you leave it out..

If they are settling the land Kibbutz by Kibbutz (in violation of international law) then are they not the aggressors?

You expect the Palestinians to sit still and not fight back while foreigners take their land?

Would you?
The settlements are peaceful movements of migrants, right?

Palestinians could stop the kibbutz by kibbutz program tomorrow. All they have to do is lay down their arms and recognize Israel's right to exist. Every day that passes without them doing that, their position erodes incrementally worse. The longer they hold out for their radical view of a world without a Jewish state in the Jewish homeland, the less relevant they will become.

You have been brain washed by Zionism. The modern state of Israel is not the Israel of the Bible. They despise Christ and Christians. i'm not saying Hamas is good in any way but Israel has done a laundry list of terrible things and they control America and use us to do their bidding while we pay for it. We need AIPAC out of our politics and end Zio control over our govt.

Maybe you are the one who is brainwashed! I'm perfectly capable of thinking for myself. When it comes to Israel, I have a historical & biblical perspective. Obviously the modern state is not the same as the stars of Israel from 2500 years ago, but it is it's heir and the subject of multiple end times prophecies.

One more thing: anti-Zionism is the same as antisemitism. And arguing that our government is controlled by Israel is crazy talk! Considering the modern Left, including fake president Joe Biden, is extremely extremely hostile to Israel and very much pro-Hamas today, it's also ignorant.

Anti semitism is just a made up word to stop people from criticizing Israel. It means nothing. They control both our political parties through AIPAC and that should not be the case. Nobody has a word for Anti Christism but they constantly hate on whites and Christians so much so that is fashionable to do so. (See Harrison Buttker)
Im totally sick of the double standard.

No antisemitism is very real. Russian pogroms in the 19th century makes that very clear, as do the Nazis, & Islamofascist terrorists & terror states. But that's just modern times. Antisemitism has always existed going back before Queen Esther in the Persian Empire to other Old Testament examples.

Most people who hate Jews also hate Christian's and America in general.
one of the safest assumptions you can make is that the people trying to destroy the Jews are NOT the good guys.

Its a good point.

Certainly one that will be used to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian State.

I will certainly agree that the Palestinians should have accepted a vassal State status back in the 1990s.

It was not a perfect deal but it was probably the best the Israelis would ever give them.

Deal in 2000: Israel annexes 8%-13.5% of the West Bank and maintain control over 1%-12% for an unspecified interim period (military bases most likely). Israel controls Palestinian airspace and radio and cellular signals. But Palestinians get an internationally recognized State in the rest of the West Bank and Gaza.

Neither do I. But it is nonetheless ironic that the left, who paeans about mass migrations of illegal immigrants ad nauseum will pivot to portray carefully controlled and administered Israeli settlements in the West Bank as some kind of special outrage. What's odd is that you buy into half of their arguments.

Here's the cold facts: Israel won a war that gave it control over the West Bank. In lieu of a peace agreement from the Palestinians in the West Bank, Israel has a right to continue occupation. And as an occupying force, it has the right to set policy, to include a settlement policy. So those settlers are not at all a random mass movements of migration. They are the result of policy by a controlling authority. Sure, the UN has passed resolutions to the contrary. But the UN always passes resolutions contrary to the interests of Israel, so the UN cannot be cited as a good-faith arbiter.

If the Palestinians do not sue for peace, the settlements will continue and eventually make the Palestinians a minority in their own lands. ball is in their court..... After a few generations of Israelis are raised in the West Bank, they will have as much legitimacy there as the Palestinians. They will never leave. The UN can resolution itself to death, but the settlers are armed..... Expulsion will never happen. Palestinians playing a very, very bad hand very, very badly.

It refers to God's covenant with Abraham but it's a covenant that God renewed with Abraham's descendants repeatedly, including with the Jewish state of Israel. Israel also repeatedly violated that covenant and were punished by God repeatedly. The Babylonian Captivity & the Roman destruction of the Temple in 70 AD are the more dramatic examples.

There is no denying that God still has plans for Israel & they are still His people. The entire history of modern Israel points to that as they defeated their enemies over and over again despite all odds. Also, a study of end times prophecy makes it clear that Israel will play a role in God's ultimate plans.

I'm sure Palestinians see the 500,000 (and growing) radical Jewish settlers in the West Bank as invaders as well.

Not to mention those settlers often act like jerks...sometimes even like outright terrorists.

Here's the cold facts: Israel won a war that gave it control over the West Bank. In lieu of a peace agreement from the Palestinians in the West Bank, Israel has a right to continue occupation. And as an occupying force, it has the right to set policy, to include a settlement policy.

But the war was against Jordan....and they are now at peace with Jordan.

And the international community says the settlements are illegal.

How do you square those facts?

[Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: "The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies." It also prohibits the "individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory". ]

[Israel's building of settlements in the West Bank, including in East Jerusalem, does not respect any of these rules and exceptions. Transferring the occupying power's civilians into the occupied territory is prohibited without exception. Furthermore, as explained earlier, the settlements and associated infrastructure are not temporary, do not benefit Palestinians and do not serve the legitimate security needs of the occupying power. Settlements entirely depend on the large-scale appropriation and/or destruction of Palestinian private and state property which are not militarily necessary. They are created with the sole purpose of permanently establishing Jewish Israelis on occupied land.]

Our own government says they are illegal

Israel has no intention of relinquishing control over Judea and Samaria is clear. It's also the only intelligent choice they can make. This point has been made repeatedly above by me and by others.

The international community says and does all kinds of stupid and hostile things, often directly against the interests (and the survival) of Israel. Naturally, Israel ignores and/or defies such stupidity which is the proper response. For their entire history they have been surrounded by enemies who desire their complete annihilation and had them outnumbered and outgunned. Israel cannot afford to be lackadaisical or haphazard about their security. They have zero incentive to do otherwise.

Don't get me going about our own government. There are far too many incompetent, corrupt, and perverted morons in positions of power including, apparently, most if not all of the current executive branch. They lie all the time and clearly do not see America's or Israel's interests as a top priority.

Nor should they. Looking at the map, knowing the terrain, and understanding the history forces one to realize that it is imperative that Israel maintains control of that strategic region.

Probably better then if everyone would just be honest.

This has nothing to do with theology or international law or morality.

Israel just wants the Golan Heights and the West Bank because they want the land for geo-strategic reasons.

And they don't care if they have to keep millions of Palestinians under the boot and the barrel of a gun if that is what it takes.

How much longer can you continue to spout nonsense?

Just FYI, the "occupation" has only been since 1967... so that's not even 60 years. Before 1967, the West Bank was annexed by Trans Jordan, which renamed itself as just Jordan since they now had both sides of the river. Jordan lost that land when they lost the war in 1967. They gave up their claim to the land in 1988 as part of peace negotiations. Those negotiations were finalized in a formal peace agreement with Israel in 1994.

I was actually in the West Bank in the mid 1980s. It was not known as "the occupied territory"... but just another part of Israel. No checkpoints, no borders... it was all just Israel. And it was glorious. It was peaceful and wonderful... and then the muslims started the Intifadas in the late 80s. So much for a peaceful life.

They already know that the rest of the Middle East will not take them. This has been proven out for the last 70ish years. All Palestinians who live in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon etc, are forced to live in refugee camps. They are not allowed to become citizens or have a normal life. Nobody in the world wants the Palestinians because the Palestinians have proven themselves to be horrible. They engage in terrorism and violence wherever they go in large numbers. Their only hope is to finally recognize the state of Israel, and then they can have a chance to have their own state in the West Bank. Of course, this will never happen because the Palestinians hate the Jews more than they love their own children. So they will continue to sacrifice their lives & their childrens future... just to kill one more Jew.

Would you?
The international law is the problem. This is the only time in history that a nation is attacked, fights off the aggressors, takes land from the aggressors... and then "international law" attempts to step in and tell them that they cannot keep the land. That is some serious bull*****

When Mexico continually invaded Texas, in violation of the treaty that was signed by Santa Anna... the USA finally had enough and invaded Mexico. Most of the world expected America to fully annex Mexico, after the marines took Mexico City. They were shocked when America gave the land back, and only took part of the land as payment for the expenses of the war that Mexico started.

No one raised "international law" when America kept Guam, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, etc. after the Spanish-American War.

The Israeli wars are the only ones were the victors are not allowed to keep the newly acquired lands.

But hey... keep telling yourself that you are not antisemitic. Self delusion can be so reassuring.

I can agree that there is a very strong anti-Christian sentiment these days... and it is wrong.

However, to say that antisemitism is just made up... that's insane. The Jews have been persecuted for centuries. Of course you won't deny the Holocaust, right? But long before that there were massive Jewish persecutions. Have you never read of the Pogroms? What about the Spanish Inquisition?

Anti-Christianism has never been as structured and systematic as some of the more famous antisemitic actions taken by governments & nations.

The Jews need Israel, because they are not safe anywhere in the world. Just take a look at what is happening on American college campuses today, if you need more evidence of that.

I understand that you might hate AIPAC.... odd that I've never seen your complaints about CAIR?

What a load of horse *****

The Israelis were attacked in 1948. Then their enemies were building up massive forces on the borders, and publicly talking about how they were going to wipe out all of the Jews.
This idea of massive land grabs is just total bull***** They gave back the Siani in exchange for a pledge of peace... hardly a "land grab". They agreed to a DMZ in the Golan Heights... again, not much of a land grab. They kept the West Bank and the Gaza Strip... pretty much small potatoes, but sure... I guess you can try to call that a land grab.

As far as "ethnic cleansing"... are you totally ******ed? There are FAR more Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza than there were in 1967. Those populations have only increased from year to year. If they are engaging in ethnic cleansing.... they are the very worst ethnic cleansers in the history of humanity.

The ethnic cleansing of the Holocaust wiped out millions of Jews. They ethnic cleansing of the Armenians wiped out between 2-3 million people at the hands of the Turks. In contrast the population of Gaza has grown from around 120,000 in 1967 to over 2,100,000 in 2024. That doesn't sound like ethnic cleansing at all. Likewise the population of the West Bank has grown from under 600,000 to around 5,000,000... again... those Jews are just terrible at ethnic cleansing.

I cant speak to all that but the Bolsheviks were mostly Jewish and they murdered all the Tsars in Russia. The nazis only came to be to repel the Bolsheviks from Berlin. '

As far as America goes, I only have issue with AIPAC completely controlling our politicians on behalf of Israel. We cant get border security but we have to drop everything for Israel. People who pay six figues in taxes to America are starting to notice.

This is what I mean. Thomas Massie is the best repub in the house. They;re basically threatening him saying he can never be a Senator unless he bends the knee. This is bullshiiiiiiit
There's been a border bill on the table for 4 months now. Both sides don't want the other's version. It's got nothing to do with Israel, and everything to do with the politics of polarization. Play the card of perfect being the enemy of good.
My point was that the Freedom Caucus and repubs held out on Ukraine funding for border relief but caved once Isreael needed money. Massie is literrally the only one who is not owned by them. We cant have border funding but we unamisouly support funding Israel. Thats not how it should be.
Don't fall for the political trick and let your emotions get played. Both sides were using other crises to force their desired action. A border bill can and should be on its own or part of a normal budget bill. The reaction you and others have to it is exactly what they want to create.

Come on now...its been a tit for tat conflict over there since 1948

Starting three wars and multiple intifadas . . . Not tit for tat.

But yeah... it's totally the Jews fault for living in their traditional homelands.

The Jews have a State...its in Green

Why are the continuing to occupy the Palestinian area and deny them a State?

I have also always said occupations are bad...when the US does it, with Jews do it, when Arabs do it, with Russia does it, etc.

The problem is the damn Arabs keep attacking Israel and losing ground, then it is an "occupation".

All the big Arab States around Israel are at peace with it

Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt….even Saudi Arabia wants to normalize relations if they will end the occupation.

There is of course an Israeli military occupation of the West Bank that has been going for for almost 70 years.

How much longer can they keep millions of Palestinians under bayonet rule?
Come on, they keep attacking. You keep leaving that out of your "bayonet rule". Israel has a plan, they are settling the conquered territories like every winner has for centuries. They are building a society Kuputz, by Kuputz. That doesn't go with your desire to paint Israel as the aggressor, so you leave it out..

If they are settling the land Kibbutz by Kibbutz (in violation of international law) then are they not the aggressors?

You expect the Palestinians to sit still and not fight back while foreigners take their land?

Then they turn around and engage in a massive attempt at land grabs and ethnic cleansing....hypocritical much?

What a load of horse *****

As far as "ethnic cleansing"... are you totally ******ed?

Educate yourself you demented boomer who cares more about some stupid foreign nation than your own.

Both sides have committed war crimes…

Israeli forces specifically liquidated more than 500+ Arab villages and towns to make way for their Jewish state

Palestinians increased in the West Bank/Gaza because they had a high birth rate during the 20th century

And of course crimes they committed in 1948 are not the only ones they did…

[Sharon, as Israel's defense minister in 1982, had overall responsibility for the Israel Defense Forces, which controlled the area of the Sabra and Shatilla camps. An Israeli commission of inquiry found that he bore "personal responsibility" for the massacre and that he decided Phalangist militias "should be sent in" to the camps from September 16 to 18, despite the risk that they would massacre the civilian population there. The militias killed between 700 and 800 people, according to Israeli military intelligence estimates; other estimates were much higher. The dead included infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly, some of whose bodies were found to have been mutilated.]

The Abrahamic Covenant was not a conditional covenant, and therefore not subject to "renewal". Abraham's descendants include *all* the semitic people of that region regardless of their religious affliation or lack thereof.

The Mosaic Covenant was a conditional covenant with national Israel that began with the Exodus and *ended* with Israel's rejection of Christ and the desctruction of the temple. As I've said, no one for the past 2000 or so years has been able to practice the Jewish religion of the old testament. It's physically not possible even if you wanted to.

The study of end times prophecy you refer to is one viewed through a pre-millenial, pre-tribulation view of eschatology prevalent in Evangelicalism and based in the Scofield Reference Bible and John Darby's teaching. It is a minority view in Christendom. Even if Israel was destroyed tomorrow, it would not impede the return of Christ in the least. Should this modern UN created state that ranks in the top five in the world in percentage of sodomites persist and go on to build the temple, it will be to welcome the antichrist as their messiah - nothing more.

No one had yet had this little conflict called WWII were these international laws and norms against taking land were established.

So according to this logic... if America had won the Mexican American War or the Spanish American War after WW2... then we would be military occupiers of Puerto Rico, Guam, Nevada, California, New Mexico, etc?? Do you really think that is right? That is just horse ***** If you don't want to lose your lands, then you shouldn't go around attacking other countries. It is just moronic and stupid for the Arabs to complain when they have attacked Israel over and over and over again. If they had just left the Jews alone, there would be a two state solution, that was agreed upon in 1948. But no... their hatred of the Jews caused them to attack and lose land. Now they want to complain that they don't like the way things turned out? When you start a war, and you lose, you have to put up with the results of your stupidity.

It's the ultimate example of FAFO.

It wasn't until after multiple failed attempts and multiple FAFOs that Egypt and Jordan finally agreed to peace with Israel. Tell me again about all of the times that Israel has attacked Egypt and Jordan since then? After all, Israel is interested in "land grabs"... right? Did you know that much of the ancient lands that were part of Solomons Kingdom, are in the land known as Jordan? So why hasn't Israel gone out and attempted some more of those "land grabs" in the land of Jordan? Did you know that according to the Balfour declaration, the Jews were supposed to get lands in both modern day Jordan and Lebanon? Again... where are those famous Jewish land grabs? Strange that I've never heard of the Israeli occupation of Beruit or Damascus.

You are getting your information from a terrorist organization!

MEE has been criticized by for spreading Muslim Brotherhood propaganda. They are not accused by Zionists or Israel or MAGA or whatever... this criticism comes from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Egypt and other non-radicalized muslim nations.

They are owned & funded by Qatar... the same guys who fund & protect Hamas and other terrorist leaders.

Everything in that MEE post is total horse****, designed to show that the attacks on Israel in 1947 were some kind of retaliation or protection of Palestinians. This is just Hamas propaganda to try and paint Israel as the original aggressors.

If you believe this crap... then we are truly done. You have been brainwashed by muslim terrorists, and I really have no more time to waste on someone that ******ed.

More accurately, Israel needs those territories to protect themselves from enemies who want to destroy & kill then. Geopolitical might be accurate but it sanitizes the meaning and lessens the imperative. Israel must do what is necessary to guarantee their survival, including completing the job in Gaza by destroying Hamas. On October 7 Hamas clearly demonstrated their barbarism and the fact that they cannot be allowed to continue to exist as an organization. It doesn't matter what the UN, the European fascists, Joe Biden or any other American fascists, or anyone else says. Israel must finish the job. Their lives literally depends on it.
