It is disturbing that so many posters are calling for all Trump's picks to be rammed through, the more retribution the better, and the more damage to the department the better. Wanting Senators to annoint them all or recess. Basically wanting the government to step aside and ket Trump do what he wants.

I'd like to just blame poor educations. Maybe these people have no clue?
The regime is no longer concerned with legitimacy. Raw power is all they need, they had it, they used it.

It didn't have to be this way. In 2016 he won and didn't use power. Evil doers had no need to fear retribution. The strong do as they will, the weak suffer what they must.

There can't be unity or forgiveness when one side wanted to destroy their opposition and got stopped. They'll do it again. Must be retribution and punishment.

Retribution is justice. It's exposing corruption and bringing the down the hammer. Why are you against that?
It can't be at the cost of the foundations of our Nation. You don't get justice by being unjust and putting aside the processes of our government.

If so, you are no different than the Dems, ANTIFA and others, just different ideology.

Again you are freaking out in a manner disproportionate to the issue at hand

(and I notice how you freak out far more about Trump and the Right than you ever did about Obama/Biden and the Left)

The "foundations of our Nation" are not at stake.

This is about the Constitutionally elected Executive Branch being able to get the people it wants into roles that are under the purview of the Executive Branch.....against a often obstructionist/do nothing Congress.

That is a classic separation of powers issue and a classic low stakes struggle that has been going on in the government since the time of Washington

[Presidents since George Washington have made recess appointments. Washington appointed South Carolina judge John Rutledge as Chief Justice of the United States during a congressional recess in 1795.]

It sort of doesn't matter. Trump will probably try the forced recess thing. He will lose in the Supreme Court. The end.

There we go then

Separation of Powers in action! The Constitution in action!

Congress tries to stonewall the Executive and keep it from picking who it wants. The Executive then tries out a novel approach to get its roles filled. The Supreme Court weighs in and tells us if its Constitutional.

System working as intended.

Everyone is happy!

Once again, you are giving Donald a pass because you like him.

This is NOT a recess appointment. This is the President telling the Senate to recess for the purpose of avoiding confirmation hearings. That is much different than having to appoint someone mid-term during a recess. This is disingenuous and not transparent.

Second, NO President has used recess appointment for his major Cabinet positions. The highest position was Commerce, NOT AG or Intel.

It is unbelievable that you scream over the Dems but have a reason why everything Trump brings up is OK and everyone that disagrees is disloyal or Dem.

Establishment Republicans (Bush, McConnell, McCain, etc. types) are learning a tough lesson and stuck in a tough spot.

The Populist Republicans control the Republican Party and that control is only growing. The Establishment types will be treated the same way they treated the social conservatives for decades……like Children of a Lesser God.

Cheney is a poster child for what switching to D looks like.
Resistance Rs are unwanted *******s. Unwanted by either side.

The posters above refuse to accept the new reality. Bush isn't coming back. Trump is the 800 pound gorilla. Cross him and die. They might hate it but it is true. The "we can simply outlast Trump" mindset is funny. He is populating the Executive branch with populists. So will his successor. He is building the next generation of R leaders the way that Reagan did. But this time there isn't two Bush presidents to undo the work.

Thune and Johnson needing Trump's blessing to win leadership should open eyes.

It is the initial Appointment of a newly elected President. His first action is to ask, or possibly order, the Senate to recess so he can appoint a Cabinet with no confirmation for 2 years. You have no issues, that doesn't appear a bit non-transparent or a dangerous precedent? It is business as usual? Once again, you can say that with a straight face.

Better yet, next election you have no problem with the Dems doing it?

System working as intended:
Trump can afford to lose the support of no more than three GOP senators on his most contentious picks, assuming all Democrats are opposed, in a chamber that will be split 53-47 in the new Congress. People familiar with discussions among Senate Republicans said that far more than three of them are prepared to vote no if the matter comes to a vote, and some said there was already talk of trying to convince Trump to pull Gaetz, or get Gaetz to voluntarily withdraw his name.
Cramer said he didn't think Gaetz would have the votes to be approved by the Judiciary Committee, much less to be confirmed by the full Senate.
One person familiar with the conversations among Republican senators said "significantly more than four" of them are opposed, which would be enough to tank Gaetz's chances. "People are pissed," the person said.
Other estimates ranged from more than a dozen Republican "no" votes to more than 30. "It won't even be close," another person said.

Once again, you are giving Donald a pass because you like him.

But it is a recess appointment....using a novel approach to get there....one that you don't like and are freaking out about.

One that has not even happened yet I might add.

No. Trump is talking about adjourning congress to make his appointments. This has never been done in the history of the Republic. All Trump nominees would be unable to assume their positions during the litigation

Maybe....maybe not

Yup. Gaetz is done. Thune was on FOX saying that he can't even get a recess through because the same people that won't confirm, won't support a recess for recess appointments. It will need to be a coup, with Trump ordering Congress to recess. Then appointing. He won't get anything approved for four years if he does that.

The regime is no longer concerned with legitimacy. Raw power is all they need, they had it, they used it.

It didn't have to be this way. In 2016 he won and didn't use power. Evil doers had no need to fear retribution. The strong do as they will, the weak suffer what they must.

It can't be at the cost of the foundations of our Nation. You don't get justice by being unjust and putting aside the processes of our government.

R's have 53 senators and, thanks to Harry Reid changing the filibuster rule, Trump will have little or no trouble having his nominees confirmed through the traditional senate confirmation process.
If he tries the force adjournment/recess appointment gambit, he will be in court for a while and momentum dissipates along with political capital
Yup. Gaetz is done. Thune was on FOX saying that he can't even get a recess through because the same people that won't confirm, won't support a recess for recess appointments. It will need to be a coup, with Trump ordering Congress to recess. Then appointing. He won't get anything approved for four years if he does that.
This may get us senator Gaetz from FLA. I'm thinking if somehow he gets through, he will be AG, if not DeSantis appoints him to fill in for Rubio who should be confirmed no problem. If he gets through as AG, DeSantis could appoint Lara Trump for senator lol.

Once again, you are giving Donald a pass because you like him.

This is NOT a recess appointment.

But it is a recess appointment....using a novel approach to get there....one that you don't like and are freaking out about.

One that has not even happened yet I might add.

So again read my post above...the one you obviously did not read.

[Separation of Powers in action! The Constitution in action!

Congress tries to stonewall the Executive and keep it from picking who it wants. The Executive then tries out a novel approach to get its roles filled. The Supreme Court weighs in and tells us if its Constitutional.

System working as intended.

Everyone is happy!

Trump won. He is in a position of strength now. He is eroding that strength with these picks. This does not even look like a serious attempt to govern. It looks like a F-you, I am king. You do what I say or else.

He is going to create the same dynamic as last time. Unless you guys think he is strong enough to take on the Dems, GOP, Courts and States?

We elected him to send a big F-you to the left extremists. We did not elect him to make a bunch of cabinet picks you would approve of.

Get your vaseline ready.
You really think that forcing his picks in is going to get you where you want to go? Using Recess Appointments and sending Congress home is going to move the agenda forward? Geez, have a lot of experience getting things done huh? You keep your Vaseline and other accompaniments,

I am good just watching me self destruct, You don't need to take part. You have fun.

Yall dont get it... the more yall b***h the more we love it. Whatever you are suggesting WE do - it is a massive signal for us to do the exact opposite.

Us/we? I would bet everyone on here voted Trump. The difference seems to be whether you you like your Vaseline or want to make sure he follows the rules. You seem to like the Vaseline. Don't worry if we let him, he will give it us ...
