There are lot of other reasons to not like Cornyn and consider him a very bad representative of Texas Conservativism in the Senate.

As a general proposition, the president should be given great latitude in whom he wishes to appoint. I've said nothing critical about any of Trump's appointments, other than Gaetz. I'm sure he wants the opportunity to clear his name. You sure are docile and trusting when it comes to executive appointments. A startling lack of curiosity
The nonpartisan group is calling on the Senate to withhold confirmation hearings for Gaetz "until a full and transparent investigation is conducted into his possible role in the exploitation of young women and girls at the 'sex parties' he has admitted to attending."
