We cannot get rid of this guy soon enough!!

Never forget that a lot of Senate Republicans wanted this absolute establishment boob to be Senate Leader

[Thune, the current whip, won 29 votes on the second round of voting against the former Whip Sen. John Cornyn, who received 24 votes. Sen. Rick Scott was eliminated after the first round after receiving the least votes. ]

There is still so much work to be done in reforming the GOP

Senators, including Cornyn, have an obligation to thoroughly vet ALL nominees for executive appointments, including Gaetz.

Leaving aside Gaetz (your personally hobby horse that you are obsessed with)

There are lot of other reasons to not like Cornyn and consider him a very bad representative of Texas Conservativism in the Senate.

(seriously do you dream about Gaetz at night?)
I'm surprised you are so compliant when it comes to Gaetz

Because I don't personally care about some Rep. from Florida

And I am inclined to give the Presidential winner of the popular vote and electoral vote the benefit of the doubt when he wishes to have a person take a role in his administration

You seem to think DC should move to block him and are really concerned about it
I'm not concerned about a Rep who resigned under a cloud of serious accusations. I'm concerned about the attorney general of the USA.

As a general proposition, the president should be given great latitude in whom he wishes to appoint. I've said nothing critical about any of Trump's appointments, other than Gaetz. I'm sure he wants the opportunity to clear his name. You sure are docile and trusting when it comes to executive appointments. A startling lack of curiosity

The nonpartisan group is calling on the Senate to withhold confirmation hearings for Gaetz "until a full and transparent investigation is conducted into his possible role in the exploitation of young women and girls at the 'sex parties' he has admitted to attending."

"These parties reportedly included young women, some allegedly minors, who were paid to participate in sex acts," the letter reads. "It is further alleged that Mr. Gaetz did not merely attend these events but actively participated. Evidence suggests he sent payments through Venmo and Cash App to an associate, who then transferred funds to the women, labeling payments as 'tuition.'"
We currently have the most compromised attorney general in history that has weaponized the FBI and DOJ against the political enemies of his political party and you are worried about the possibility Gaetz was at a sex party. It is really insane.
You sure are trusting of the Deep State. Aren't you curious why Gaetz was the most disliked member of the HOR?
He's a jerk. So is Trump. So what?

"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life."

There were problems with vaccine manufaxture in the 70s and 80s, but did you know it is 2024 this year?

Vaccines overall save lives, but mistakes are also made. Today they are more in the administration, than manufacture. Nurses and doctors do make mistakes.

Gaetz was the most despised member of a body with 13% approval rating. I'm looking forward to the hearing in front of a friendly committee.
There was rejoicing in the Republican caucus when Gaetz resigned

Ok. That's clearly a reason to vote for him. Tell me why I shouldn't.

You're not a Senator

Matt Gaetz, Master of Insults, Now Needs Support From Senators He Bashed
The right-wing mudslinger built his brand on mercilessly trolling his adversaries, including some Republican senators, on TV and social media. Now he needs their votes to be confirmed.
He's bashed a lot of people (who needed bashing) but I'm not aware he's spent a lot of ammo on Senators (except perhaps when they richly deserved it).

GOP senators who vote against him will get primaried, as they should.

Primary 4or 6 years from now

I have already contacted the Wesley Hunt team in hopes he'd run for Senate in 2026. "Just a Chump" needs to be taken for a long ride along the West Texas border

Why are we afraid of a Senate confirmation hearing in a Republican Senate? Why are you trying to suppress information about Gaetz (House Ethics report)?

I know she also has a very hard line against Saudi Arabia. I was following her before she was running for president on the democrat side and she always had very harsh rhetoric for SA. Her campaign manager responded to me on twitter and provided some links to news articles about the SA lobby in DC, I guess implying that was the reason for it.

She's absolutely right. Turkey is trying to have it both ways and SA does not do anything that benefits us.

Why not just admit you don't want Trump to be able to appoint who he wants with out Democrats and back stabbing establishment Republicans in Congress being able to derail the nomination?

I also hope Carson gets a position, if he wants one. I'd make him the new Anthony Fauci, to reform/reorganize the CDC/NIH ecosphere.

That is true and the solution is to return to our roots:

- faith in God
- adherence to the constitution including limited govt, federalism, respect for the Bill of Rights (1A & 2A in particular)
- rule of law
- election integrity
etc

Gaetz would be a troubling pick if he actually had been involved in sec trafficking. However, like most fascist accusations against Republican figures, this one is bogus. The guy behind it is actually a felon himself who was accused of sex trafficking, apparently with real evidence against him. He made the charge as part of a plea deal to reduce his sentence. How crazy is this: Fascist prosecutors reducing the sentence of a sec trafficker because he falsely accuses a dynamic firebrand politician of sex trafficking. It's about par for the course for the Leftists.

Remember: if the Left accuses a Republican politician, a Christian, or nowadays any conservative of something horrible there's a huge chance the accuser is actually the guilty party. They love to project their crimes into the innocent. If it's coming from the Left, the accusation is almost a confession of personal guilt.

I think we agree there should be a senate confirmation hearing. This isn't a criminal trial. Gaetz deserves a chance to answer the charges.
Why can't we see the House Ethics committee report?

I think the authoritarians want to install cabinet members without confirmation hearings

If the recess appointment scheme was the accepted precedent in 2016, Merrick Garland would be aan associate justice of the Supreme Court
