I did not see a thread about wokeness in general so decided to fill the gap. This is as good a way to start as any:

And now, they are the Washington Commodes. Not sure if that is an #1 upgrade or just a simple #2 choice.. probably a crappy #2

Call Bob Costas. It was his legacy to remove it.

In virtually every case where a sports team has used nicknames referring to Native Americans it has been done out of respect or to even honor them or acknowledge them as being historically connected to the area where the sports team is (example - Florida State Seminoles). As another example, the former Cleveland Indians baseball team (now the "Guardians") gave themselves that nickname as a way to honor and memorialize a famous player in the early history of the franchise who happened to be a Native American. There is no example you can come up with where some team using these types of nicknames is doing it in a mocking or hateful way any more than Notre Dame is making fun of Ireland by calling themselves the "Fighting Irish". The woke world is so pathetic in their attempts to literally invent grievances and victims where there clearly aren't any.

I have a theory that almost no one believed what they were saying but it was that *or* be associated with "literal Hitler".

Then they repeated that thing they didn't believe so many times they started to actually believe it is true.

The ones who have wised up and don't believe it's true are just too emotionally invested and embarrassed to say they are wrong.

I think you can apply that to all sorts of wokery.

That's how totalitarian propaganda works.
Anyone who is ever read George Orwell's 1984 has some understanding.

Completely irrelevant. They are going all electric. Probably going to kill the brand.

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of who buys their cars and who buys any luxury cars. The typical wokies that this would appeal to do not purchase high performance luxury cars. Beyond stupid. Board should fire everyone and then all resign.

Why would Jaguar utilize an ad like this.

It appeals to nobody but the very tiniest market segment, a segment
which wouldn't be interested in buying a Jaguar.

Some things are just too stupid to be reasoned away.

This really isn't about going woke. It's about a brand that is essentially dead trying anything they can.

2021 - 17,149
2022 - 9,668
2023 - 8,348

They are going to beat 2023 sales numbers but BMW sold just shy of 363,000 units in the U.S. in 2023 which almost as much as global JLR sales volume.

There are 389 Jaguar/Land Rover dealers in the U.S. which is less than 2 cars sold per month. They are carried by the Land Rover division.

They are going all electric in the Jaguar line. You could argue the brand died long ago. Though an F Type R is pretty damned good.

Again, they don't appeal to a broad segment of the market currently. They have literally nothing to lose.

Sure would.

It's such a shame but if we are being honest they haven't built a good product in a really, really long time. The last of the E types was 1974 and they haven't made a good luxury sedan in probably coming up on 30+ years.

The F type is a good car but they didn't sell well.

The small SUVs they have been selling are the definition of uninspired junk.

Jaguar is pretty much toast.

Probably going the way of Saab, Olds, Pontiac, Saturn, and Mercury. Sell the name to the Chinese and call it a day.

It is the Attorneys fault. They have made everything litigation and the literal word is hard to defend in court. They did it to Trump last term, clear joked or metaphors. For example, the bleach comment. Obvious joke, that was used as literal. They have destroyed a lot. Seinfeld does a whole thing on comedy bring destroyed.

One of the issues is that the prisons are too plush these days. They need to make it as nasty as possible. Keep them locked up 24/7 and serve them the same crap that some elementary schools serve. Make it so nasty they never want to go back.

Waiting to see if Trump says that organized gangs are terrorist organization. My gut is telling me he is leaning toward this. That will change a few things
