Why in the world do Trump want to start a trade war with two of our best trading partners?
Trump's love for tariffs is a real head scratcher. If he follows through with this, expect inflation to return with a vengeance and shortages of many products. Will be VERY painful for the middle and lower classes.

According to a couple of Border Patrol agents I met in 2018 along the Border Wall in southern New Mexico......
Trump threatened a 5% tariff against Mexican imports if they didn't stop illegals in Mexico from even approaching the Wall.
The Border Patrol agents then pointed out a Mexican federal army trooper with full body armor and an automatic rifle walking along the Mexican side of the Wall.
Trump's threat had obviously made an impact.

This is why I believe what will ultimately happen is Mexico and Canada will both suddenly start caring about cracking down on illegals traversing their country to get into the USA as well as the fentanyl traffic - which will result in the tariffs either never being actually imposed or not lasting long at all. They know they're no longer dealing with a dementia stricken Obama puppet.

Our media will have a ****……but such tariffs would devastate the economies of both Mexico and Canada.
The real danger is from the Mexican drug cartels. They could activate assassination squads already present in the US to kill dozens of our political leadership.

Doesn't Mexico and the US know where these cartel *******s live. Give Mexico a few months to go scorched earth on the cartels, and if they fail, bomb every mansion owned by every one of the *******s.

Sinaloa cartel in Mexico: stop killing our customers with fentanyl or your life will be in question. Why did it take so long for them to use common sense?https://t.co/PY1g9itL3E https://t.co/nwTDt1BW52

So many tariff naysayers thinking Trump just doesn't get it.
Every single globalist news media and politician has been scaring you since the 80's. Communities are lessened by American workers having to compete with slave labor. The globalists don't give one iota about the crime in your neighborhoods, the weakening of the moral fabric of society, the poverty, the foreign control of the American workforce, or you or your family. They just want to transfer wealth from you to them. If you can't see what they've done to our communities by flooding it with illegals and exporting jobs, that's on you.
if American companies can't use slave and child labor, then American consumers shouldn't be able to buy from these globalist companies that do. American workers should not have to compete against slavery. Fair trade with free market as a guideline.
Last, Tariffs are a tool and Trump's instincts are usually spot on. His first term was some of the best we've seen. He's clearly going to work with these nations to ensure that they're prioritizing what we need them to prioritize. Could easily see Trump using the tariff with Mexico to reduce immigration and drugs.
If you're siding with progressives on economics, you're probably on the wrong side of things.
Last, the US and the West built China up. We've created a trading partner that can now rival us and is a potential threat to freedom across the globe. Yay team unfettered globalism, good job.

That seems kind of a snooty, Elitist attitude. It has been estimated that two thirds of Americans have been living paycheck to paycheck. To call people barely just getting by and trying to pay their bills "selfish" is a little over the top.KaiBear said:

Agree with you here. We have still a long way to go as far as the appetite for illegal drugs in the U.S. Parents need to sit down with their kids and have a serious discussion about the dangers of drug use. The story we hear over and over is that this was a "one time thing" for my teenager that overdosed. Kids should NEVER accept a pill even from their best friend. Back when we were growing up, popping a pill was no big deal. In 2024, popping the wrong pill could kill you. Don't want to sound like I am victim shaming but perhaps I am. People (especially kids) need to make better decisions. Nancy Reagan said it best. "JUST SAY NO!!!!!"KaiBear said:All comes down to walking the walk.RD2WINAGNBEAR86 said:That seems kind of a snooty, Elitist attitude. Otherwise 100,000 Americans will continue to die each year from imported narcotics.
There is no easy way out of the hole Biden put us in.

Quite an accomplishment to start with $500 million and grow that into a multibillion dollar empire. Most successful businessmen have done failures along the way. This is true of people in general. The key is learning from mistakes: what one does after.
