This thread is a sort of smorgasbord of what Republicans wished history said. True, a long, long time ago it was Republicans who were trying to end slavery, and Democrats who wanted to keep it going. That has little relation to today though, where even in our lifetimes we see the script being completely flipped on issues like women's right, US-Russia relations, etc.

To paint fascism, communism, socialism as completely left wing ideologies is to try to impose a snapshot of modern American politics onto the history of European politics, and that is just simply not accurate. Fascism in Italy was certainly right wing, for example. There is no doubt about it.

The core reason however, that neither American party has ever been described by anyone with a brain, up until Trump, as fascist, is our limited government and Constitution. Someone earlier correctly described fascism as more closely related to absolutist government than right left up down wing.

Personally, I don't think it is Trump's intention to say fascist things, but simply his total ignorance of the Cobstitution, which he has admitted several times, that caused him to say things veering not really into any sort of right wing rhetoric, but absolutist government rhetoric.

Him having unconstitutional power over the generals of the Armed Forces for example, or asking Pence to unconstitutionally throw out the vote of the people. These are absolutely fascist tendencies. The left does this too, so that is a valid argument, but if there are fascists amongst the leftist politicians, they certainly conceal it better than Trump.

To understand all these 3 ideologies as left wing would be a huge misunderstanding of history, and guess what? Something of course you zealots love.

Fascism and communism are just two different manifestations of socialism = collectivism. collectivism is always done FOR some oppressed class.

Communism is socialism by class - to benefit the worker.
Fascism is socialism by race - to benefit the German/Italian people.
That difference also explains the national vs international dynamic mentioned by others.

The fascists did describe themselves as socialists, ya know…..

Fascism is not necessarily racist. It certainly was for Hitler but not for Mussolini. It was more about nationalism taken to insane extremes and concentrating power in a few hands. Of course, it was (and still is) a lot more than that. The basics are enough to understand what it looks like in generals terms and to understand how evil it is.

Fascism is definitely a variety of socialism, one that downplayed the idea of abolishing private party. That enabled them to gain support from lots of people of all classes and from corporations who saw opportunities to rig the system in their favor with the support of powerful politicians & bureaucrats. Sound familiar?

Yep. American regressivism is close to fascism in both economics and racism.

Regressivism
  •
  •
An Ideology of turning back time or reattempting previously failed ideas. Unlike Conservatism, Regressivism is usually for the detriment of people rather than supposed progress or a return to morals. Such a title is more commonly used as a sarcastic insult rather than a self-applied political stance but may exist as both.

Says the worst racist on this or any other message board.
Semantics means the meaning and interpretation of words. Semantics largely determine our reading comprehension, how we understand others, and even what decisions we make as a result of our interpretations.
So what's your definition of racist?

An undereducated individual who continually focuses only on ONE ethnic group for all the evils in the world.

Often due to his massive feelings of inadequacy ; usually in regards to one's past and / or current circumstances.

If I am understanding you right, you think I am focusing on white folk as the source of all evil. If that correct?
In my opinion I believe that definition racist includes should include oppressive actions and discriminatory towards marginalized or oppressed people.
White folk are not marginalized. like say Hispanics or Blacks.
P.S. I do not consider whites marginalized unless you can show me otherwise. I am open to your thoughts

You are a proven racist, Waco.

Zero chance you can talk your way out of that now.

If you mean "progressivism", it is fascism. And it is very regressive. Funny, I've used that label off and on for years. I didn't think anyone else did.

Also, the Nazi policies on race were very different than our categories based on White/Black/Hispanic/Asian. They are often labeled as the worst racists ever but we generally have no idea on how different their ideas about race were from ours.

Brown dude, evetually reaching the rank of General, married to an Austrian girl at a table with Himmler at a time when he would be drinking from a "colored" water fountain or found in violation of anti-miscegenation laws in many places in North America.

But a white ashkenazi jew or slav would most certainly not have been able to do that in Germany while being able to move more of less freely in North America.

We often undertake an analysis of other societies and times with assumptions we carry from our own which is almost always a mistake.

Unfortunately, racism has been human nature from the beginning of time. Like slavery, there is no single nationality or ethnicity that has not been on both sides.

The problem today is that all too often "racism" is a blanket insult or accusation thrown out blindly & ignorantly by people haphazardly. The fascists are particularly egregious about this since they know how effective it can be to control people and they are all about control. The former Dem governor of Virginia wore blackface in the day! Same with the governor of the 51st state (PM of Canada).

They are also extremely hypocritical. Leftists will make the most absurd racist statements about a Republican, even blacks like Clarence Thomas or Condoleeza Rice, and no one on the Left will care. But they will accuse conservatives of being racist for criticizing Obama or disagreeing with fascist shibboleths. Thankfully, there has been some pushback lately and it doesn't work as much. We will see how long this lasts.

I grew up in Waco so I know rural folk. I served rural churches so I know rural folk.

Here the stats on white folk
What do we know about food stamp recipients in the U.S.?

The most comprehensive data source we have is the Census Bureau's Survey of Income and Program Participation, although its most recent data is from 2020. That year, 23.6 million SNAP recipients (63%) were adults, and 13.8 million (36%) were children.
Non-Hispanic White people accounted for 44.6% of adult SNAP recipients and 31.5% of child recipients in 2020. About 27% of both adult and child recipients were Black. Hispanic people, who can be of any race, accounted for 21.9% of adult recipients and 35.8% of child recipients.
The vast majority of both adult and child recipients were born in the United States 82.3% and 97.1%, respectively.
Among adult recipients, 62.4% had a high school diploma or less education in 2020. And despite the program's work requirements, 61.6% said they had not been employed at all that year.
The Census Bureau also looked at households where at least one person received SNAP benefits. More than six-in-ten of these households (61.7%) reported having no children in 2020, including 34.4% who were people living alone. More than 40% of SNAP-receiving households were in the South, the highest percentage of any region. Pew Research

Whites are not 'completely' forgotten.
In Mississippi, there are several differences between white and Black welfare recipients, including:
  • Eligibility for SNAP benefits
In 2020, 53.1% of non-Hispanic Black Mississippians were eligible for SNAP benefits, compared to 19.5% of non-Hispanic White Mississippians.

  • Poverty rates
Black families in Mississippi have higher poverty rates than white families. For example, in Tunica County, 68% of Black families live below the poverty line, compared to 12.2% of white families.

  • Unemployment rates
Black residents in Mississippi have higher unemployment rates than white residents. For example, in a group of 13 counties, the unemployment rate for Black residents averaged 13.3%, compared to 3.8% for white residents.

  • Wage gaps
Black workers in Mississippi earn less than white workers. For example, Black workers earn about 69% of what white workers earn, compared to 80% nationally.

  • Caseworker interactions
A study found that Black and white recipients differed in four out of five indicators, including how caseworkers notified clients of employment opportunities and how much emphasis caseworkers placed on education.

I maintain that 1947 is a bot poster just trying to get under peoples skin.
Bless your heart. I post facts and you post insults.

No Waco, none of your posts have facts. This is one reason no one respects your opinion.

For real question to the more right leaning posters here: do yall even read his posts anymore?

Racism simply changed its team name from Democrat to Republican.
You are an insane person at this point. This is true: "Racism simply changed its team name from Democrat to Republican." How is that insane?

That you can't understand there are impoverished white folks all over the country who are
marginalized like you like to call it, Yes, they are marginalized and ignored but they did not face the discrimination or violence as blacks did. In fact, marginalized impoverished white folk participated in the terrorism of blacks. See the story of Emmitt Till for an example.
just proves your insanity. How does it prove it?
How whites were dragged out of houses or jails to be lynched?
Blacks massacred thousands of whites in Haiti.

Ask your day nurse to google it for you .

Blacks massacred thousands of whites in Haiti. Of course they did. They killed as oppressors as they could but it was their only recourse. The south and its white enslavers and enablers massacred hundreds of thousands of whites and black to keep the evil of slavery alive.

Ask your day nurse to google it for you .These kind of needless attacks do not serve you well. They make you look weak and immature.

Thousands of the slaughtered were white women and children.

In some cases the women were raped to death after being forced to watch their children being murdered.

A few women saved their lives by agreeing to become 'brides' to their rapists.
