I remember seeing the Nimitz in the very early 80s as a super young child in Greece. We were stationed at Hellinikon in Athens and they would bring the carriers to Souda Bay, Crete.

Then again in the ME circa the Gulf War.

It's amazing that it's still in service.

One of my Carnival ships that was about 35,000 gross tons was next to the Nimitz in Charlotte Amilie, in the Virgin Islands. It was a brand new ship, about maybe 2 years old. We were not a small ship but next to the Nimitiz, we were one of its lifeboats. We had a crew of several hundred plus about 1,000 passengers. They had some 5-6,000 crew. That thing is huge! You really have to see it.

Anyway, a hurricane was headed toward to Islands and they told us both to get out of the harbor before it came. It's better to ride a hurricane out in open ocean than be tied up to a dock. Nimitz got out of the harbor and we picked up about 1,000 sailors/marines that couldn't make it back to the ship in time and then got out of the harbor in time. We ended up ferrying the sailors back to the Nimitz in the open ocean.

Trump in a social media posting called on ICE officials "to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History."

He added that to reach the goal officials "must expand efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America's largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside."

Trump's declaration comes after weeks of increased enforcement, and after Stephen Miller, White House deputy chief of staff and main architect of Trump's immigration policies, said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers would target at least 3,000 arrests a day, up from about 650 a day during the first five months of Trump's second term.

At the same time, the Trump administration has directed immigration officers to pause arrests at farms, restaurants and hotels, after Trump expressed alarm about the impact aggressive enforcement is having on those industries, according to a U.S. official familiar with the matter who spoke only on condition of anonymity.

It seems we are busy providing defensive support for Israel. I'm OK with that.

If Israel is actually killing Iran commanders on the ground, they might as well just finish the job.

I would be leery of a peace deal where Iran promises not to go for a nuke.

Putin is responsible for the deaths of well over a million people. He has been in power in Russia for 24 years. He won the last "election" with 88 percent of the vote. What does Putin need to do for you to consider him a benevolent dictator?
