Tremendous sermon given by a preacher with tremendous courage. She knew she was going to get MAGA fury, but she uplifted Jesus anyway. She spoke morally, and that always has political implications.

It was actually mild. She urged the President to show compassion for the powerless. A great man who was a Christian would have taken it well. Since Trump is neither, he didn't. Instead, he made a vile, petty, nonChristian post. Because that's who he is. He worships the rich and powerful, the Musks, etc. None of them are in the neighborhood of Christ.

I wish some of his groveling evangelical megachurch "pastors" had introduced him to Jesus. But they would have had to have known him themselves to do so.

She's a libtard and you know it. I agree with Trump's post. She did fail to mention the murders that have taken place by illegals. Cases like the Laken Riley case. Here is Trump's post....

Although I agree with Trumps point of view here; the Bishop still had the right to voice whatever view she has; regardless if flawed or not.

Every priest or pastor has that right.

The obvious remedy is for those who find her attitude objectionable……find another Church.
Exactly. Many pastors over the centuries have preached conservative stances and people complaining in this thread have never made a peep about those instances. But since they disagree with this pastor, then a pastor shouldn't be allowed to voice their opinion. That is hypocritical in my mind and very anti-christian.

Have read many comments from our resident leftists vehemently complaining about 'evangelicals' preaching conservative political views.

And I provided the same remedy.

Find another Church.

What Church do you attend ?
I agree with your remedy. But the people complaining now were the first to defend pastors in the past for making political statements. That's my issue.

It doesn't matter if I do or don't attend church or what church I attended. All I'm asking for is consistency. I've defended pastors in the past for voicing their political opinions in sermons, I'm defending this pastor for voicing her opinion in this sermon. I'm being consistent. It's the people that aren't consistent that I have an issue with. It sounds like you are being consistent, so I have no issues with you on this particular topic.

No one said she didn't have the right to say what she wanted, people are questioning her decision to say what she said. Let's stop that false narrative right now. Second, no evangelical preacher got up and preached against the new democrat president during the same event in question, stop that false narrative now, too.

Yes, we generally agree on this.

However you chose to comment that those who possess a different opinion on this matter were acting in a ' very anti Christian' manner.

Well, if an individual is not attending Church ; not regularly practicing his Faith…..he really has no idea what is 'anti Christian' and certainly shouldn't attempt to judge others with such a flawed perspective.

She's not asking for Mercy. She has a history of asking for everyone to change their minds on what defines sin. She wants people to believe LGBT isn't a sin when it clearly is.

On top of that, she's making the case that being opposed to LGBT is a form of punishment against them which is absurd.

Good post. There is a time and place for everything and simply having the right to do something doesn't mean it's always appropriate to exercise that right no matter what. And this isn't about "choosing a different church" if you don't agree with what is being preached. This is about a traditional event at the national cathedral that ought to be about unity and encouraging the new administration to make sure God is at the forefront of everything they do, and not about condescending lectures on how to treat people that are by definition criminals. And as others have noted, anyone in the LGBTQ community that is "afraid" of Trump feels that way strictly due to leftist propaganda as we have 4 years of proof from his first term that he isn't at all out to persecute them. Again, this bishop's approach was inappropriate and uncalled for given the circumstances and what the event is supposed to be about.

What does the Bible say about immigrants and refugees?

Love Refugees As Yourself
When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. (Leviticus 19:33-34)
Leave Food for the Poor and the Foreigner
When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. (Leviticus 19:9-10)
God Loves the Foreigner Residing Among You
He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt. (Deuteronomy 10:18-19)
Do Not Oppress a Foreigner
Do not oppress a foreigner; you yourselves know how it feels to be foreigners, because you were foreigners in Egypt. (Exodus 23:9)
Do Not Deprive Foreigners Among You of Justice
"So I will come to put you on trial. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive the foreigners among you of justice, but do not fear me," says the Lord Almighty. (Malachi 3:5)
Do Whatever the Foreigner Asks of You
"As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your name- for they will hear of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm-when they come and pray toward this temple, then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name. (1 Kings 8:41-44)
Leave Your Door Open to the Traveler
No stranger had to spend the night in the street, for my door was always open to the traveler (Job, discussing his devotion to God) (Job 31:32)
Invite the Stranger In
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' (Matthew 25:25-36)
We Were All Baptized By One Spirit
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body-whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free-and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. (1 Corinthians 12:12-14)
Love Your Neighbor as Yourself
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." (Galatians 5:14)
Have Mercy on Your Neighbor
He asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'
"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"
The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."
Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise." (Luke 10:29-37)

Seems pretty simple.

You can't make the case that they're powerless.

If you're trying to grant powers to them, you're engaging in promoting sin.

Any sexual activity outside marriage between a man and woman is an abomination to God. It's a sin, it's adultery. If there's any part of you that says it's ok, you're going against God. Period. That doesn't mean to hate them, it doesn't mean to target them. We still love them, but we can't tolerate their sin or allow people to promote their sin to our children which is exactly what this Bishop's agenda is.

1) She pointed nobody to Jesus, but to a make believe version of Jesus. Jesus would love sinners, but then tell them to leave their life of sin, to go and sin no more. This "pastor" tells people to wallow in their sin.

2) She too is a sinner who had no right to point out and chastise a single individual in the meeting. For every finger she pointed at Trump, I'm sure 4 could be pointed right back at her.

3) She is a Trump hater who has called for his removal multiple times in the past, it would be unacceptable for a right wing preacher to chastize a democrat president over abortion and the normalizing blatant sin, and they haven't done it at a similar prayer meeting for the president. But, she decided it was ok for her. She is kinda getting a pass here.

4) In an ecumentical setting, Trump needed prayer and support, not condemnation and chastisment. But, all this lady feels for Trump is rejection and dismissiveness.

5) In her little marches and private sermons she can say what she wishes, in an ecumenical prayer meeting for the president before his inauguration, this garbage had no place.

Not only that, he nominated a gay dude who just recently went through committee confirmation hearings.
And when looking for a Secretary of State, I understand it was down to Marco Rubio, and another guy who is gay too. DT came close to having two gay men in his administration.

At the end of the day, the only thing that is stripped away from man due to sin is eternal life with Christ. But only if one has the inability to confess it and repent of it. Ask forgiveness for it. And accept Christ in as his or her personal savior.

Does that mean sin will leave that person completely? No. We will always sin. But we do the best we can.

In addition to gays, every straight man on here who has lusted after someone who wasn't his wife is guilty of sin. And we know that includes 99.99% of the men on here who have committed adultery in their heart. They're no better than the "homo" in that regard.

It's human nature though to leave that lumber in your eye while trying to remove the splinter from someone else's. A lot of people want to believe their own sins are not as bad as those of others. 'Well, at least I'm not ___.'

That's not how it works though.

All have sinned. So it's best to focus on yourself, rather than worrying about the sins of others. God will take care of that based on how we deal with our own sins in our lives.

But I agree, to play this "fear" card when it comes to DT is really getting old.

I am not lecturing anyone. I didnt argue. I merely quoted scripture. Do you find the Bilble disturbing? Sorry if that offends you ag..

Actually in Maui with my wife.

Currently waiting for her to get ready for our morning walk along the beach.

Knew you would return to the board.

You require a platform from which to bleat your hypocrisy.

As you are not a Christian; live a hedonistic lifestyle, own several failed marriages and relationships…. yet feel entitled to lecture others.

Hilarious
And I knew you would eventually change you name and pretend you went to Baylor..

Link ?

Meanwhile your biggest concern in life is Elon Musk 'salute' .

You are such a nut case.

Go back to your 3rd world *****s. They pretend you are relevant….for a price.

Mercy in this situation to libs means that they want the president to accept the bad behavior and let it continue.

Illegal immigrantion is bad for our society. It needs to stop.

Trans agenda is harmful to our kids. The most merciful thing for kids is to reduce its impact. No surprise that our leftist groomers side with the Bishop. They actually support kid transitioning. These supporters brains are clearly rotted with evil.

Yeah I think they just picked the wrong person to preach that day. Any one of us could have seen a pic of her and known what was going to happen. She drives a Subaru and owns a cat.
My MIL had a Subaru--loved it. I'm allergic to cats.
