All the families that needless lost loved ones in the desert are not going to be thrilled with going back to build the worlds most dangerous resort.

I don't care what happens to the middle east but I don't want to donate any more American teenagers to the cause

It is non of our business. Let Isreal fight their own fight. Oh, did I mention that it is a serious violation of International Law? Yeah, son, let's just go take over the Palestinian land and send them elsewhere where no one wants them. Eff Isreal and Bibi.
I don't recall you saying that about Ukraine. Isn't it your position Biden did the right thing by proving billions in aid?

Or is it bad only when it occurs under Trump?

For the record, I agree with the premise - but believe it should apply to countries we were supporting under the Biden admin as well. But I am not a hypocrite.

Wow, that was a huuuuge idea. Hope you all saw the press conference.

US to somehow control AND develop Gaza, with investment from other middle-east countries.

Lots to digest, will see how it develops.

You can bet Trump has already talked about this with Israel and Saudi. Now can they get the rest on board?

Arab countries will chit all over this craziness . Where do you put 2M people for Trumpy Bear's riviera? Untenable.

You could house them among all your ranches since you have a hard-on for Jew haters.

This caught everyone by surprise. Maybe this is smoke screen for something else. Maybe it's a plan to get Arab countries and Israel to start working on something together instead of fighting and mistrust. Maybe this could be a money maker for all involved parties. No one else has proposed anything close to this lol. But whatever has been going on for the last 60 years hasn't been working either.

I'd bet $ Trump isn't going to be spilling US soldiers' blood on whatever plan he has cooking. And, it will probably turn into a revenue stream for all involved.

Saudi Arabia is already opposed to this Trump fantasy.

Goes against everything he campaigned on.

I just told you. United States policy for decades has been based on thinking God is going to come back and establish an earthly kingdom in literal Jerusalem.

However, he corrects this notion and says, "My Kingdom is not of this world."

That is why we perpetually make the mistake of getting involved over there. Israel being one of the only democracies in the region is a small factor I guess.

Got to be more to it.

You don't see France, England, Italy , Sweden, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Norway, , Brazil , Argentina, or even Belgium repeatedly provide Israel billions ( and in the case trillions of dollars ) in aid whenever an Israeli prime minister shows up in their respective capitals.

Would like to see Musk's put his teams spotlight on this open conflict of US interests.

Dont hold your breath on that. Elon is controlled also. They already forced him to take a trip to Auschwitz with Ben Shapiro and Netanyahu last year when they determined there wasnt enough censorship on X. Also, many of those countries you listed have a Zionist leader or are controlled by Israel. Germany (obvious), Argentina (Millei is a zio puppet), Mexico (Sheinbaum), etc.

Suspect this is gamesmanship and negotiating tactics more than anything else. Highly doubtful Trump puts our troops over there, or commits large sums of money to rebuild Gaza. It would not be in line with what he did during his first term.

As with all things Trump, he talks a big game, and this motivates other countries to act accordingly so that he won't follow through with his threats. It's a gamble, but has worked pretty well thus far.

That said, I am fine with giving Israel the greenlight to finish off Hamas. They are a scourge and should be wiped off the map. I think the Israelis have to be careful, however, in how they do it. Also fine with greenlighting the destruction of Iran's nuclear facilities.

Hussein gambled well in regards to Kuwait….until he didn't.

IMO Trump is risking his entire presidency on behalf of Israel.

No other country in the world has repeatedly provided unlimited military and financial support for Israel.

And this deal, as presented will cost trillions of dollars the US doesn't have. Not to mention the lives of US solders and civilian contractors.

Saddam was not the threat we are. I agree if Trump follows through, it would be a huge mistake. But I think the chances of us doing what he suggested are slim to none.

The US owning land in the Middle East sounds looney tunes to me. Feels like inventing new problems for our country to deal with when we've got more pressing issues at home.

Is this a Trump bluff to try and accelerate some other desired outcome?

That…or Trump just thinks any land inhabited by Arabs near water can be turned into Dubai lol

Of course Gaza does not have what the Qatar and the UAE does….an ocean of oil and petrochemicals

Trump did say something about turning it into a Middle East Riveria. It sounds like a nice dream but maybe not very feasible. We will have to see how it develops and who gets on board & who is willing to help finance the clean up & rebuilding.

In Trumps defense Gaza has never been sovereign

It's been a part of various empires from pre-Rome all the way to the Ottoman Empire.

And it's been under the direct or defacto control of Israel for decades.

Not sure it's a good idea for us to try and manage 2 million rowdy Palestinians in an area smaller than Austin.

But the whole "sovereignty" bit is just a legal fiction.

I bet Austin would take the Palestinians

I realize it takes a small amount of logic to understand the difference between having someone else fight your battle for you and fighting a battle for someone else.

There indeed is a lot more to it. The best allies are the ones who are isolated and dependent on you. Iran, in theory, would be an excellent ally. It's isolated religiously and ethnically, yet is a large enough power to bring assets to the table. Unfortunately, ideology is in the way at the moment.

We have few such obstacles with Israel. It is an outpost of Western Civ, democracy, rule of law, competence, etc...in a region woefully deficient in such things. That it is in constant conflict with proxies or other powers means we have a ready market for our military industry, which is important for maintaining capacity for us to scale up for war. It also means that we have constant opportunities to see how our stuff fares in live combat scenarios. We learn what works & doesn't. We adapt tactics & strategies. We are upgrading the power plant on the next generation AFV in no small part to allow us to employ an active defense system Israel developed on its own (using stuff we sold them, doing stuff that benefits us).

We have a tremendously capable proxy in Israel. They are in fact so capable that they will likely do the job of degrading the Iranian nuclear program for us. Sure is nice to know we can handle that problem without putting our own sons & daughters at risk. And in simple geopolitical terms, there is a long list of advantages to having a strong Israel allied to us in that region, and literally nothing to be derived from decoupling & casting Israel adrift. Would be all downsides.

Arabs don't hate us because we support Israel.
They hate us because we are not one of them.

Opposition to support for Israel is pig-headed obtusity of the highest order.
