Yeah, "controlled source" in the classic sense is not likely, but very plausible that the FBI interviewed Trump years ago, and Trump was a cooperative "witness" about what he saw Epstein doing socially. That would put Trump's name in the file numerous times, but in a positive rather than negative light. It would also add some context to why Trump kicked Epstein out of the MAL club - it's one thing to get a compliant about "Member A" hitting on the daughter of "Member B." An allegation is an allegation, "he said, she said," etc, but to learn the FBI is also snooping around asking questions about "Member A"..... That's a de facto ratification of the complaint and increases liability for the Club and the club's managers & owners.
